gear linkage issues

basically the cars stuck in 3rd gear the gear stick wont go into gear from inside the car , i can put the car into gear from the engine bay at the gearbox i havnt a clure when it comes to mechanical things like this any ideas on how to sort it ?

its a mk3 astra 1.6 valve with single point injection il get a pic of it now
