View Full Version : Seized solid waterpump on sport
Just stripping my sport engine for rebuild and the water pump wont come off,ive been braying it with a hammer to the point the pump is breaking in bits.dont wanna maris it too hard incase it breaks the block.Any tips/suggestions?? Also i dont have access to heat
Pump is more likly to break before the block. Have you been hitting it from all angles? Sounds silly too but spray some WD40 around it maybe?
ive used about half a can of wd on it and have brayed it from every angle possible

Not being funny but you have taken the 3 capscrews out?.
Have you tried levering it out with a suitable prybar/lever?
Have you tried turning it with a spanner? i.e. as per how it tensions the belt
They can be stubborn but normally come out OK once it's moved

Funny that I have in fact been looking at my Sport engine today
Course ive taken the screws out,ffs lol
trust me,ive spent the last 2 hours smashing fukk out of it,"a suitable prybar" aint gonna move it.Im just having to break it up,which is becoming more difficult because the face of the pump is no more, its now just in the block
try knocking a bar through the water tube.
to hit it from behind you mean?

I only said it because I have been where you are, and then sheepishly find that extra bolt you'd forgotton aboutlol
Is it in or out of the shell?
yep, guilty of that myself also a few years ago lol
its on an engine stand, just the block
Id be throwing the engine block around the garage by now if it was me, hate trying to remove them when then properly seized :(
is it possible the weld a bar etc to the pump body an lever it up an downto make it move

How about, break the centre out, chain drill around it to weaken , get a heel/injector bar in inside and lever it out.
Cant belive it is that stuck, mind my sport engine it covered in aluminium white rust!!
its done, just having a can of lager now.I'll post a pic in a sec of how smashed it is.
The engine has been stood for years though, well apart from a brief run in 2008

I was a bit wary of proper blasting it as i didnt want to maris the block.
Believe it or not,the dismantilation of the watter pump was done so in a controlled manner lol
