My nova smells of petrol

Hi all,

My nova always smells of petrol not as much from the inside but getting in or out and when bonnets open etc.

I know i have a slightly worn camshaft bearing as it whines a bit on tickover. It is totally standard engine wise with the pierburg 2e carb and standard plastic airbox. I was wondering if it could be the carb or worse? Or could it just be the petrol cap (Its lockable but occasionally you can open it without the key)

Any suggestions would be appretiated, cheers for looking!

I would investigate it ASAP, if it is more "Under the Bonnet" that's probably a good place to start

Fuel feed and return pipes, fuel lines to and from the Fuel pump to carb.

If it's not from there does it only occur when the fuel tank in above a certain level i.e. tank leaking.
