I want to wire up my car sound system in my room (head unit, amp, sub and 6x9's) I've done this before, but the way i was running it was a car battery powered and charged by a mains charger, with the head unit and amp hooked up to the battery. I dont want to do it like this again, mainly because of safety issues, i mean having a car battery in my room charging isn't the smartest thing lol So is there any way of having a 12v power supply to power the head unit and amp? Could i use a 240v to 12v DV converter from the mains  any other ideas just to power the head unit and amp?

Could something such as this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Logic-RC-12v-Power-Supply-PS200Adj-15amp-Adjustable-/370436306631?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item563fb976c7#ht_1043wt_1137
take place of the car battery? i.e. Wiring the + and - straight into this and getting out a 12v dc supply to the headunit and amp?

what happens if you just use the battery charger

I'm pretty sure that the battery releases harmful gasses when its being charged. That's why I want to use something like a 240v to 12v transformer so it's safer
You'd need a power converter of some sort if you wanted to do it sans-battery. But as said, just get a decent home stereo - there's a reason why people don't use car audio in house.
Nobody drives a car with triangle wheels, does that mean you should just to be "different"? lol
Go online and search for "" cb home power pack ""
I think the current draw will be too much, your going to need a massive psu if its half decent equipment
eBay item number 350386516489
it's a 25A dc 12V supply, many different prices and styles, the higher the price the higher the AMPS,

what is the max amps that it would be safe to run?
Find out how many amps you need first and work from there, search eBay as there are power supplies up to 60A
Yes it's easily done, PC power supplies have a 12v feed for fans ect not sure is suggest it as a permanent solution but iv tried it before now and it worked fine dude! Google it will come up with a diagram on how to do it

cheers :) ive worked out that my amp will be running at no more than 25 amps, going by the maximum wattage. Would the pc supply supply enough amperage?
