View Full Version : whats needed to run f15 gearbox?
Right then ive picked my engine up now for the nova, its a c18xe and now ive got it i can see that it has a 6 bolt flywheel.
what im after is some info on what flywheel, and clutchkit i need to run it with my f15 gearbox?
ive done a search but cant find anything as f15 is too short to search for :(

Anyone? I was told diesel flywheel is used for c20xe but I'm thinking they are 8 bolt?
does the 1800 astra run with the f15 box?
You need a 1.7 n/a GM diesel flywheel and a nova gte clutch mate.
Is that the setup used when doing an xe? Is it a flat or pot flywheel? I'm not sure what the 1800 Astra runs will check on that

^ Thats what I've read a few times.
Mowgli, NO.
ta Dr. people just don't fit 1800 engines very often in a nova...
Cool will have to have a look about for a diesel one to check the holes, using the 1.8 as I've done a 1.6 and didn't fancy the redtop again, think the c18xe is a very under rated engine so hoping for good results

its a sleeved-down c20xe isnt it? same size/weight/tricky to fit/ just circa 120 bhp isnt it..?
It's basically an early ecotec engine without all the emissions crap, I think it runs the same flywheel as the x20xev rather than the c20xe.

Is that a 6 bolt pattern? And is the diesel a flat or pot fly
its exactly same as an x20xev engine with a 6 bolt flywheel, you need an n/a 1.7d flywheel and a nova gte clutch, or a gte fly with the bolt hoes enlarged for the thicker flywheel bolts, xe's dont use derv flys for f15,
ive got an x20xev on am f13 in my corsa c. and im putting an x20 on an f15 in my nova in a few weeks ill take some pics for you if it helps

and this hows the difference in size of the holes between a big block fly on the left and the gte fly on the right (fly on left is from an seh, but same bolt size/pattern as x18xe)

That's brilliant, thanks for the help. Off to the scrap yard I shall go lol
back on this topic lol, ive got the clutch and flywheel here off the old x16xe which is a pot type.
is there any reason i couldnt use that and drill it the same as i would if using the nova one?
if i could it would save me a lot of messing about i think

Yes you can re-drill them, personally I would have gone small block for a 1.8... seems a lot of unnecessary weight and hassle for not that much power
tidy, ill try and use my clucth and flywheel off the x16xe then. i looked at the small block 1.8 but they are good money. the c18xe imo is a very underated engine, power figures not that far off an xe usually. Hoping to keep the weight down by using the f15
I would not use the pot flywheel, find a flat fly, X14XE's have them!
Any reason or just weight? I only asked as I'm struggling to find a flat one ATM and that's all I need tto put it in
Flat flywheel will make it rev quicker
