Well the time has come to buy shafts.
The local scrapyard charge me 40 quid for a set of nova shafts. But i know a guy who will sell me a set of corsa b ones for 20, would they fit?

Just to add to the pile.
NO THEY DON'T
i'm sure with a junior hacksaw & some blu-tack, you'll manage something...
they will fit, just not from the gearbox to the hubs
yes they fit
but you'd need wider arches lol
corsa shafts are 1.5 inch longer mate :thumb:
just re groove the shaft.....

What engine and shafts do you need then?
just re groove the shaft.....
lol
Hardly wotrth it, is it!?
if your skint, yes it is.
a pair of shafts is going to be cheaper than having a corsa set re-grooved
hacksaw and patience is all you need ;)
hacksaw and patience is all you need ;)
lol Are you joking??
You cant seriously think you can bodge the splines on a shaft with a hacksaw??? :tard:
you can cut the groove the circlip goes into further up the splined part. done it on 4 corsa xe conversions using cav shafts. works fine.
epic lol
pikey engine swap 101
how many washers to space the mounts out lol
I have heard of a few people have 12 mm cut of cav shafts and the circlip groove cut on a lathe never heard of anyone using a hacksaw lol
you can also get a small grinder with a 1mm disk in it, clamp it in a vice, mark where the groove needs to be and rotate the shaft to cut the groove.

Well the other scrapyard has said i can have 2 Nova shafts for 30 quid.
Im off the C20XE idea and off the 20SEH idea and will be running a good serviced slightly tuned 1200 8V carb engine with a 4 speed F10.
So just standard shafts.

Let me re-write that.
Im paying £30 for shafts, for a small block, because Ive been banned, and my insurance will tear me, and my family a new hole for a days cover
I looked into XE insurance, and with the Ban, fook me is all im sayinglol

No. I was toying with the idea of fitting an XE and not declaring it but realised how stupid it would be because id just end up banned again.
So i just bought another 1.2 and decided to be legit from now on because life being banned is seriously depressing.

would a 1.3 be too dear as there is a noticible difference and it feels like theres alot more power

Not sure, ive changed my mind about going fast now if i put something fast in id be tempted to race people and show off and maybe crash the car after all this work.
So with a nice 1.2 with my 4branch and stainless etc.. It should sound nice and be nice to get used to driving on the roads in, plus with it having brand new V6 brakes theres not much chance of it getting crashed
