overheating

hey there i am wondering if someone could give me an answer the engine in my 1.2 injection heats up realy quick and there was one time were it blew a pipe of the expantion bottel and the temp gauge says cold and it dose work beacuse if u leve it running for a good while it moves and the fan dosnt kick in is this a thermostat cheers:thumb:

Sounds like thermostat or air lock to me.

could be the above also worth checking the water pump, failing that at worst it could be the head gasket

how would i no if it is the water pump and ave checked the oil cap and dip stick and theres no spunky lid cheers

You can normally feel if the water pump is working by feeling the rad hoses to see if theres a kind of pulse there. Obviously take change the thermostat first to rule that out.

the pipes get hot mate and and pretty soild as if theres pressure cheers :thumb:
