easy to check. fit an xe, and if it's starting to crack, it's rotten lol
this was going to be a LET track car!!!! thank fook im cutting it up instead lol
Might have to drill a couple small holes and fill mine with waxoyl me thinks
Does it have any seats in it of the GSi variety?

Thats nothing really, certainly not worth giving up on a shell for. I bet many 'mint' novas have a bit of rust lurking in that section, as its a real trap for dirt/moisture and doesn't get seen hidden behind a wing.
Whiz a belt sander over it and see how bad it is underneath, plate it if needs be whack some sealer on it, job done.

That's the same place mine was fcuked. I took the wing off and you could literally fit your full fist through the hole lol

your right mate, rust always seems to be hiding in places you cant see, until its to late.
iain
this is a donor shell, ive already removed the inner wings, firewall, upper front panel, scuttle panel, next its the front chassis legs then the rear ones, its all in here

its more the fact that i did'nt think that it would have been as bad as that in there, i will repair it so the parts could be used again, just not on this shell

Its one of the first places I check on a Nova and it usually goes crunch. You can put your hands up behind the wing and turret and prod it from behind.
Mmm, that dont sound right lol

Thought as I wrote it, this is totally wrong!
FFS, its a 6" x 2" plate - its not rotten!!
Think of the escort boys who build a car with ally plate, around what is essentially a frame!

eh ffs aint needed mate, im simply showing the the area of hidden rust i found while stripping a car that is being used for spare parts to help restore my gsi
its not a case of OMG RUST LETS BIN THE SHELL,
many nova owners may not be aware of this area, im only trying to show that a car can look good on the surface but it may be hiding a few surpises,
and incase you may think i see rust and run have a look at my rebuild thread :d

Just shows you what lies beneath mate...That's an eye opener
F*ck ripping my shell to bits to see if it's pumped in that area...It'll need to do lol
hahaha is that it? There bugger all wrong with that. The panel you've remove is the bit that holds all strength in it.
aye the support plate is in good nick, both strutt top will be repaired and kept as spares or sold, just an example of how novas rust from the inside
