Ibiza is a bit quiet, sensible handling, yet going by looks should be a hoot.

VAG so again I wouldnt.

Maybe I shouldn't have put the word chav in there then

As for slagging people off, if someone post up something as stupid as the axe thread then yes I'll slag them off as will many others

Really sorry for not finding your child like antics funny I will now keep my opinions to myself

Anyway, back on topic. Theyre pretty slow as standard Dan, but are relatively easy to get more power out of. The turbos on them are good for 210bhp IIRC. you need to change to the 210/225bhp (Leon/TT/S3) turbo to get more power than that. Forgot the name of the turbo's.

With an intercooler, de-cat, panel filter, re-circ d.valve, 225 Leon Turbo you will see approx 280bhp, which will obviously be lethal in a car that size.

The engines are very strong, but suffer from coilpacks going down. Make sure they are genuine Bosch items and not aftermarket crap, when you replace them.

They handle pretty well , and drive nicely IMO.

Gearboxes are bullet proof. Parts arent too expensive. Turbos can be a bit weak, crack on the exhaust side are common IIRC. expect to pay £1000+ for a new unit.

My mate has an Ibiza Cupra, and other mate has a Leon Cupra R 225.

The Leon has had a fairly tough life, done 70k, owned it for 4 and a bit years, problems he's had are- turbo (required a new one), 4 new coilpacks, and the waterpump has just packed up. But the cambelt is due anyway, so no real big deal there.

All in all there quite nice cars.

Aren't they the same engine as the A3 1.8t? and the golf gti?

If so, petty nippy. A mate has an a3, and with a revo map he's running nearly 200bhp. Dunno about the Ibiza though, but the a3 weighs as much as a tank.

sort of, the ibeeza is only around 160 bhp, golf turbo and a3 sport are a AGU engine at 180 bhp then the 210 bhp S3 is APY engine and the 225 bhp S3 and TT is the BAM engine iirc

I think the three turbos you get on a 1.8t are

K03 156 bhp
K03s 179 bhp
K04 225 bhp

IF it's a Cupra R it will have a K03s, Cupra has the k03

Edit: I agree Mr Maris that BM is not chav

Theyre the ones.

K03 are good for 210
K03s are good for 240
K04 are good for 300
