My ex sat on a "mark" on my passenger seat for about 2-3 years (its gone now, I cleaned it out eventually lol) which I convinced her was, ahem, hers. She didn't actually realise that a) the mark was there before the one single time we actually did anything in the car and b) when we did do something in the car, there was no possible way anything could have gotten on the seat in that fashion. T'was actually some guff from one my my ex's way back, of whom I'd spent a few months boffing whilst I was first seeing previous ex.
