Gear linkage??

Right ive just dropped the 1.2 engine out of my car..im putting a 1.4sr engine in but was wonderin if i need the remote gear thing and the rod to make it in to five speed..im pretty sure i do but thought id better check before i go get one-i mean i think ive got everything else to make the swap..Cheers again.

am you changing the gearbox if you am ok

your linkage will be the same just don't undo it where it joins the rod under the car as its difficult to line up the gears on your own you have to keep testing the gears by driving not at stand still as i found out

if not removed just take it apart where the pivot pin sits and put it on the new gearbox

yeah if your converting to 5 speed get the 5 speed stick/linkage

makes life easier

u can do it with the 4 speed stick but you have to cut a lump of plastic off to enable 5th gear

only on some cars.... my 1.2 van and 1.0 had a 5 speed stick fitted
