rite in order to do the calculations that CP wants for making the strip a "level" playing field i need your 1/4 times/power/rough ideas on weight and tyres

Dunno if this will help bu theres a load of 1/4 mile times for novas on http://www.pngregion4.co.uk

I'll start off by saying a stripped 1400sr with a k&n and stainless steel system on 15's with 195/50 tyres did a 17.4 (at santa pod)

Andy Bish did a 13.9 in his standard nova turbo with 16's, 195/45 and full interior (i think)

Jim

15.2sec @ 90.66mph

1.6 on Twin 40's. Bucket seats up front, no rear seats, no cage. Not totally stripped of weight, so could go faster :) No Diff either.

16" wheels with 195/45/16

Jim

P.S. I probably wont be going to PV03 anyway, but theres my figures.

 err not exactly how i had it laid out in Excel. Its got all scrunched up. The top line is the categories and the mods should be lined up below  I'm such a computer muppet
Will e- mail you Camb.

Anyone else interested in a " readable" Excel version pls e-mail me direct and I will send you an attchment.

The weight factor needs a simple estimation system devised cos otherwise we would have to weigh everything before it went up the strip.

anyone got a rough idea how much the rear seats weigh???

like i said in the otehr post im guessing they only wiegh about 20-30Kg's which is roughly what a cage weighs anyway

CP
23-05-03, 12:16 PM
An SR stripped from the tailgate to the back of the front seats loses 40kg. I estimate that half of that is the inertia seatbelts and all their fittings. There is about 5kgs of carpet and trim so the seats must be aboout 15 kgs. Doesnt inlcude any speakers or anything.

Hmm the MIG boys dont seem to be very interested :?

wisewood

Aragorn

fuel will be 1KG per litre or very close to

so a full tank is 40kgs

run on half a tank and u lose 20kgs :)

If we are going to be real about this and work out what weighs what and make it into some form of spreadsheet then driver size must surely be an issue as is the biggest deciding factor :? . As an example being 14.5 stone myself and chris t being of a thicker build like myself :| , in 2 cars identical against breeny or mike oxford they would have a good advantage straight away as they are lighter  ,

Jim
25-05-03, 06:00 PM
Sorry Dan, I don't think the weight of the driver should be taken into account, just stop eating all them pies :P

I gotta agree wih Dan here, fly weights like Mike and Breeny would have a definate advantage over 'bigger built' people like myself, Dan and Chris T given identical cars. But, I also agree Dan needs to lay off the pies, and the ice cream, and the cake and the......... ;)

CP

lol - the level playing field idea is broad categories to do with handicapping the basic set up of the car ie a 2.0let Nova vs a Cally 2.0let. I would expect the final weights/power/suspension setup of the car - seats, spare tyres, half a tank of petrol, driver on a diet etc etc to be down to operator skill on the day so that those best prepared get the glory. The idea would be to handicap those whose lazily turn up with a roller skate and a rocket strapped to it with its obvious advantages and no skill involved

If it gets too involved it will end up in nonsense land with everyone saying that its a load of shit cos it means nothing?

Breeny
26-05-03, 12:30 AM
fly weights like Mike and Breeny

Ive put on a fair bit of weight myself recently

Anyways... i can't see you getting the bathroom scales out when we turn up at the strip... that would be hilarious to watch
