im a mechanic panel beater spray pianter to trade and its diying out no work at asll around hereim a good panel BEATER!!lol
here we go....
alex mertle, ask about rapid repsonce training, and use it to get your hgv licence. ;)
groupb, companys are aware that they only have to pay min wage, so thats all they will pay, the days of 14 quid an hour are dead. sad to say ageism does occur, ask your local jcp about age favourable employers.
as mr jack says the mechanic trade is dead as a dodo atm.
best advice? ask the jcp for a list of all of the days vacancies, no matter what your trade, and apply for as many as poss. and remember, a jcp isnt there to find you a job, its there to guide you back to work, and support your jobsearch. you have to do the legwork.

Min wage is max wage ;) if it was abolished the good rates would come back.... but union hippies dont see that as they are mongs.
Mr B, perhaps when aplpiying for jobs, remove/garnish things to make you look less qualified/experienced as they will just see you are there to pad some time before fecking off for better things. All the supermarkets our way wont employ redundant people as they will just sod off the minute things in their industry get better lol.
There is TONS AND TONS of work out there, you just need to look/be cheeky and ask etc. Join LinkedIn and have a trawl through the companies on there and make the managers/directors an approach etc.... saves them 25-50% in fees of an agency etc so you might see better rates and things
oh and places employ grads as they are dirt cheap and lots of them about so they can be abused as much as possible
Do you work for the Government or something ?..................lol

Dougie, phone land enginnering ( stewarton base ) ask if there are any winter gritting jobs, then also ask about summer grass cutting.
Also if your car licence covers you to drive 7.5 tonne get onto the agencies for mulitdrop, they may give you the letter you need to get the hgv course,

what is your chosen trade???
apart from that as long as you are on the right meds, there isn't anything much different about you. do you have to by law tell them at interview?
if you try to find a job at a small business, they don't exactly do all the background checks that a larger place with a personnel/HR dept full of people with nothing better to do than find out irrelevant crap about you...

All the shops are after staff.
Theres loads of factory jobs too
thats the answer... move to north wales... you'll have to be careful with their funny accents, but if you watched brookside, you'll be fine...

i been on income support since june, i got made redundant in april 09 from a full time job, went on benefits and in august got a job for a years contract at the local hospital doing the ****tiest job ever with awful people and awful managers, got me to the point where waking up in the mornings had me in tears just thinking of going there so i left in may, before my years contract was up, now alfies' at school i'm restricted as to what i can do coz i have no one to take him or pick him up from school which rules out full time work, cant do cleaning jobs as they're early mornings and late nights and got no one to look after him, few jobs that have suitable hours that i've managed to get interviews for i've always got a second interview but never got the job, so many people apply, the chances are just really slim!!

put it this way, having a big hole in yoru CV of no job will make getting a PROPER job somewhat hard... Employers would sooner see that you went and did a crappy job than sit on your ass and turn down anyform of work.
You say the country has gone to pot, and no doubt whinge about polski taking all the jobs etc, when you've just turned down some work as its 'below' you that was offering to pay... ok not a lot but better than nothing
fook me stu, your bang ont money again. merton, how old are you?
I got asked why there was a 2 months gap in my employment.... Granted I had a job contract signed before I left the old one but couldnt start the new one due to security clearance taking ages... couldnt lie about start/end dates incase they checked lol

not really if you get 65 a week and dont need to pay rent or counsil tax.
i.e you could get a take home pay of 200 per week and have to pay out 100 for rent 35 counsil tax your still left with 65 ****ty quid.

we are on 'good' monies and Carly (specifically, as I get shag all) gets £40 a month WTC. so on lower monies I'd expect a shed load of WTC's
only if we live together we get it!

The thing is... they get that all day long.
I was on JSA for 10 months last year, I badly wanted work, yet somehow they still managed to suggest crap like working night shifts in a 24hr petrol station. I applied for it, dont get me wrong (I was turned down without an interview btw) but I still had to air my reasons for not being over the moon with that as a job.
This country is screwed anyway. As long as companies fail to manufacture here & farm out stuff like call centres to India etc, we will always have a massive jobs shortage for ever more.
All the countries we have regarded as waay behind us in social & economic terms are going to make us in the UK look utterly poor in the next generation or so. China, India, Iraq? You wait.
3rd world status here we come!

next!!! lol
now, its my turn to ruffle some feathers......
1. i think that dole is actually too much money. with all the added benefits that people manage to qualify for.... there are literally millions of people who live without work and can't see the point of it, as its usually a cut in income.
thus it should be cut to not enough to live on as an incentive to find work.
2. if there is no work in your local town, fecking well move. its what people did before the welfare state was invented. round where i live, there are communities of welsh & scottish who moved into our area following work
3. stop being so selfish, the world doesn't owe you anything. it never has. norman tebbit was so right when he made the get on your bike speach.
4. i got myself a hgv class 1 licence. if all else fails, i will get a driving job, its my insurance, and i paid for it myself

i work for the jcp, on the section dealing with long term (6mths plus) unemployed, i have a caseload of 200 people all in the same boat. some try to get work, others give me the same **** answers you have and some dont do **** all, so i stop their money. so i do ****ing know.:) oh yeah, before i started there in 2009 i signed on for "fukk all" for 6 months, and my jcp was **** to me, but the above is what i did and it worked. i got what i wanted. i grew up on a huge council estate with massive unemployment, my dad was on IS for a major back injury (pins and plates and 5 fused vertibrae) for most of my childhood and brought up 3 kids and fed us and my mum on £32 a week. so dont dare tell me £65 isnt enough.
now, its my turn to ruffle some feathers......
1. i think that dole is actually too much money. with all the added benefits that people manage to qualify for.... there are literally millions of people who live without work and can't see the point of it, as its usually a cut in income. bang on, and it is coming....
thus it should be cut to not enough to live on as an incentive to find work.
2. if there is no work in your local town, fecking well move. its what people did before the welfare state was invented. round where i live, there are communities of welsh & scottish who moved into our area following work
i like telling peeps this, its the truth.
3. stop being so selfish, the world doesn't owe you anything. it never has. norman tebbit was so right when he made the get on your bike speach.
4. i got myself a hgv class 1 licence. if all else fails, i will get a driving job, its my insurance, and i paid for it myself agree totally mowgli.

+1
A job is a job. I'd rather work hard for my money (even if it's not a lot) then sit on my bum all day and get benefits. I don't have the best job in the world and I don't earn a huge amount of money but i'm proud that I do have a job and I don't depend on jsa and all this other rubbish.
It annoys me when people think a job is "below them" and then whinge about not getting much benefits. It's far too easy imo to get benefits. My mum has barely worked a day in her life due to sheer lazyness, she's on benefits and has been for years and has not once been pulled up on the fact that she still has yet to of found a job.
There's always jobs out there, sometimes it just takes a bit of initiative and actually making the effort :) Good luck though.
:wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: i dont want the cra**y money, i want a letter to give to the csa as they want to see im not working!!! i will get a job that pays more than 2p a week, or start my own business, read the whole thread before you all get on your high horses!
wasnt on a high horse... but £153 is more than £65 a week (just incase you needed help there :p )

i am married with 3 kids... no it wasn't or isn't easy, we have fallen out, she has threatened to leave, even though she admitted she was wrong, we have worked at it, i would hope i don't split up with my wife & kids, but if i did, i'd make sure i did my bit.

i have no problems with any polski working here and taking up the jobs the lazy english wont do, plus they work dam hard for the money, im just saying, job centre just want to put you in any old c*ap job just to get you of the books, im not working for nothing, i want an income, but 65 quid to bring up a child and look after my other half is a joke, id rather wait and look around for a proper job that pays money worth earning! not in subway filling s*ity roll 6 days a week for money you could earn in one day, fine when your 16, but when familys involved, you want the best!!!!
I know if I had kids I would be working whatever job it takes to support them.
I know you think your above working there, but at 16 I had 3 jobs.
I worked in the model shop as part of my sponsorship.
I worked doing house removals (amazing coins at 16)
I also worked as a kitchen porter (Washing and tidying up)
I did these to take me racing, and it did, and i blew the lot on model cars.
Now in your shoes, I would have said I will have the job 100%
Because a job gives you a sense of self satisfaction.
And as stuart said (Its so wrong we agree again) that its shows on your cv that your not an axe weilding lazy cnut, who would rather sign on.
