John Cleese bashing his mini in with a tree branch has nothing on Maris lol

DON'T MENTION THE WAR!! lol lol
I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.
'are you orrilley men?'
'WHICH ONE IS MAN WITH BEARD?'
it has its moments... i actually have a corgi collectors austin 1300 traveller with basil & twig......
They constantly replay them on belgian tv they are awesome! the fact than John Cleese married Polly says it all, oh yeah and he a Bristol City fan of course lol
polly actually co wrote it..
i prefer the one where they have some yanks in...the main yank was complaining about some back road called the m5, and basil says, well that is because our cars have steering wheels

Absolute winner! Havnt seen it for years but i may have to watch them all again.
Hilarious back in the day, but seems old nowadays. In a way I dont find watchable.
Like Bottom (mostly) and Shooting Stars I find.
I have never seen Fawlty Towers though. lol
Shooting stars is just awful, but then i think reeves and mortimer are about as funny as hypathermia in an oap home!
doing the same crap every week never hurt little britains ratings either..........
personally, i think mock the week is still the best new comedy show..
Dont like little britain either, same **** everytime.

Speaking of old tv comedy. Who remembers the brittas empire? Whenever i have mentioned it to mates they dont have a clue what im on about.
Was funny back in the early 90s but i reckon it would be crap now lol
brittas empire was excellent... anyone who has ever worked in an office knows a brittas type character.. the one who gets put forward for a promotion to get rid of them, and ends up in charge of something....
Mista Britaasss FTW. Babies in drawers, crazy wives and two homosexual pool attentants. :/ lol
Yeah that would be crap now! Red Dwarf on the other hand... Chris Barrie rocks imo.
Little Britain has always been crap. Mock the week is waaaay too repetitive now, and Shooting Stars is cringeworthy! I couldn't believe they rolled out the same played out 90's crap in the 'new' version. lol
rimmer ftw lol
This.
I want names I want places I want dates!
Arnold Rimmer, his locker, this morning. lol
i think you've been watching repeats of mock the week.... the new ones are not repetitive....hugh dennis is by far the funniest one on there.....he did a line about siamese twin boys whose nickname was skipping rope & the rest simply stopped to laugh uncontrollably
early red dwarf was really good, middle ones to make it up to 50 episodes so they could sell it to the yanks weren't so good, later ones were ok....
they did one episode where they visited a planet where everything happened backwards, and it was pretty funny, then cat tried to sneak a sh!t in the bushes.....then it got proper funny

See how do you guys know it but nobody who i talk to have a clue what im on about.
Our manager is an exact copy of Mr brittas and whenever i call him that or rimmer nobody understands why lol The guy even talks like him Lol.
some people just don't keep up with poplar media.....
i know people who have never seen the fast show, and don't know anything about it, but use the catchphrases & don't know why.....

Nah, not repeats. Same with their stand up stuff, Live at the Apollo etc. It's all the same material (Frankie Boyle especially). I'm going to see Dara in a few weeks. It will be good, but I bet over half of it has been heard before.
RD wasn't made like that to be sold to the US. They only made one ppilot version IIRC. GrantNaylor had to make 8 series' before a film would be commisioned.
Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin were originally going to play Lister and Rimmer. :|
I met dara years ago in comdey club in Bristol my mate managed to do the elvis u hu joke on him twice we were ripping the piss out off him all night.
limp, to sell a comedy series on american cable, they need 50 shows, then it gets syndicated and played for ever. then all those obese weirdos have fan conventions about it..............
the yanks have had 2 goes at making Fawlty towers, and both were terrible.
an american version of red dwarf simply would not work, the humour is to oddly english.
the yanks even took the slick conman show hustle & made it into a robin hood type thing... where the crew are actually like the A team and go round stealing things off the bad guys & giving it back to the poor victims....... it is not very good.

I remember seeing Frankie Boyle's DVD or something, all but two of the jokes I'd heard on Mock The Week. The two I hadn't heard, I'd figured were from the couple programs I'd missed lol
Red Dwarf is ace, but the last few series were weak. Brittas Empire was genius although I don't remember all that much of it.
My favourite amusement of the moment is/was Argumental. Rufus Hound is funny :d
Mock the week used to be good, but without Russel Howard and Frankie Boyle its just crap.... Get back to ballamory archie!
I used to hate shooting stars, they were much like mark and lard on the radio... but then it was restarted this year or soemthing and I quite liked SS.
Sunnyside farm is one that should a) be on DVD and b.) back on TV :)
sunnyside farm??? fantwa tting tastic??? that was truly odd....yet strangely funny
i still think the first 2 series of the league of gentlemen was genius

The very same.

LMAO awesome! I saw Craig Charles stand up show once and we had a pint with him after. :d
Mowgli, the Americans copy everything, whether it has British humour or not.
Maybe they do need to make 50 episiodes to sell it to America, but the fact remains, all Grnat and Naylor ever wanted to do was to make it into a film.
i still think the first 2 series of the league of gentlemen was genius
Creepy but very clever. The 'last' one with the concurrent storyline for the whole series was also epicly genius
TLOG ruled supreme. I still find it creepy and hillarious whenever I happen to catch it. Justin burried in the flower bed for the sickest lols!
The film SUCKED though IMO. Although I have to admit, I watched The League of Extraordinary Gentleman expecting it was The League of Gentleman Appocalypse or WTF it was called. lol
Both sucked! lol
i wouldn't watch the film.. it was always going to be terrible.
I have a problem of lusting after more of my favourite thing though (lol)
Like a Red Dward film, IF it ever magically materialises, will suck. However I would be first in line to watch it. lol
Film was dire. the league of extraordinary film was fun :)

My vote for the funniest thing on TV at the mo goes to Genuis with Dave Gorman.

If you ever get a chance to see Dave live do it. I saw him in Whitby about 8 years ago (doing Better World) and I nearly wet myself he was that funny!

Cracking series.
I know it gets replayed to death but I think Only Fools & Horses is the best comedy series ever. No matter how many times I watch them it still makes me laugh. Dont think it will ever be beaten.

when ronnie barker died, our vicar actually helped at his memorial service at westminster abbey. as the organ music started, 4 choirboys actually walked in with 4 candles. my sister went to see the two ronnies live show in coventry, it took her 3 days to manage to describe the hardware store sketch, she was laughing too hard
Porridge ftmfw so ahead of its time its still so relevant today!

one my favourite comedy sketches. Had a customer by four candles off us couple months ago ( just some cheap ones in sale lol) and me and mum couldn't stop laughing whilst doing the sale.
Absolute poo
its a generational thing.. there are no swear words, and the material is old fashioned these days. the modern stuff is usually observational stuff, not clever plays on words
the two ronnies was dire imho
but from a similarish era I really like steptoe and son
on the subject of comedy, there is an new episode of rock and chips at xmas...
i think it should be serialised myself....

Could be, although I didn't think it was funny 10years ago either. I don't find any monty python stuff remotely amusing, my brother (who is 21) finds it hilarious/the best comedy ever etc
i never liked monty python on the tv, but i love the films.

ditto. Films were fab, tv series was just rubbish.
