You'll need worn pads maybe. But to keep the original calipers you can only use the GTE 236mm discs.

People have got 16v discs & calipers in when using worn parts.

Maybe, but late GSi's & Corsa sports had newer style calipers & same sized 236mm discs. Still sh*t.

IMO with stronger brakes, your tyres will be overcome as will the XE power overcome the tyres grip. Astra GTE's were slated for only having 185 tyres on the 16v, compared with the Manta GTE's 195 tyres & 25bhp less.

Just an idea, but cav/calibra steels are wider than 3 spoke alloys & will take the std GTE hubcaps, now thats more sleeper.

meant to say the 5.5J steels wil swallow 16v brakes properly, also.

it came with a set of cav slabs but i would prefer to keep it looking original thats why i wanted the 3 spokes, wish i had just got a 1600 engine it wouldve been easier but got offered the xe and just wanted an engine tbh that was the first one i got offered
