If I was to put a 1.6 16v engine from a late model corsa, would I have to fit the CAT aswell to pass the MOT, my car is a 1992 J reg GSi and as t stands at the moment it doesn't have to have a CAT for the MOT.
If I did this transplant, anybody have any idea what sort of costs are involved and who could do it, as I think the 16v engine looks mint with it's smoothed top.

it's the car not the engine that decides if it needs a cat (so you don't need one) cost wise the engines are about ?650 (if you can find one!!) as for fitting it do it yourself!!

Well ye, but only fit it yourself after u know ot ur lettin urself in for. There is lots of things uv gotta do b4 the vlaver will work in a standard nova! Fuel lines, tank etc. If its power ur after then dont bother! Its too expensive for the small gain! Unless u wanna spend lots tunin it cuz it certainly be tuned!
