I was told by my engine builder that you can for road use but if you want to get the most out of it you need 45s but 40s should be ok on the road. would have more low down grunt as well not great with silly cams mind you.

I'd stick with 45's.

ok its for my track car. i bought bike carbs but my mate i share the car with would rather use 40s/45s and i was offered 40s cheap. cheers.

Wouldnt bother tbh - 40s dont like much more than 150-155 bhp

yes you can, no gain in peak, but you do get a fat load of torque midrange...... really I'd not bother and go for 45's

what do you class as lairy cams? and as said 45's, but tbh r1 carbs or zx6r carbs would be just as good if not slightly better gain over the mid range over the 45s and still get the same peak power

got a pierburg 1b1 here, that will work. whether its gonna work well is another kettle of tea. ;)

288s will definately want 45s, otherwise its going to feel strangled higher up the rpm.
