Is it a disasterous idea as a temporary "i'll be very carefull" measure?
I know some have run F13s and been lucky.
P.S I know this has been asked before, i've read about it before, just cant find the thread.

its been done alot, actually. id say a stock xe on an f15 would be fine.

seen it done many years ago with an f10 gear box on a 2.0 8v.was insane to drive but topped out really quickly and eat boxes , not good idea imo , i would wait till i had the right box etc, fitting one as a temp messure is just making work for ya self
I would say it would be fine and very fun, buts its a risk and if you need the car for a daily don't bother
do u need to use a 1.7d flywheel for small block gearboxs?
How do you get a 1.7d flywheel onto an xe? an xe has 8 bolts to the 1.7d's 6,
the 1.7 fly is for 8v seh's and x20xev's
ok then, re drill the fly. grasser lads do this alot, or just get a fly made. it aint hard
Surely just get the correct box in the first place ie f20
its the shafts thing.. if you can get a fly redrilled for £50 its cheapr than shafts and hubs.

to be honest, it is a shafts thing to a point, but also because i already have most of the bits to use the f15. I'll give it a go, see how long the box and clutch lasts. I'm not the type to screw the nads of my car permanently anyway so should be ok.
Here's an XE fitted to an F15
