Aye you could be right mate :)
thanks, tbh we didnt spend much time there, if it wasnt for chatting to mowgli, it would of been an hour max. not a massive site by any means. but cool non the less :)
Might have to go to the next one looks like a good day out.
Mowglis Nova out in the carpark that be.
its got my winter suspension on it.... anyway, my spax springs are the rustiest thing on the car, so i am getting them cleaned up.. anyone know whats good spring paint????
the vboa people are very friendly, and the heritage blokes are too. the food was alright. but the heritage centre was a bit crammed, but the weather was awful, so they couldn't really fill the carpark up with stuff on show... there were some really nice club members cars there too, but as martin already said, there wasn't enough for an all dayer. a couple of hours tops.
The one thing that peeved off me and jack, was there were some engines with cross section cutouts in glass boxed behind the Lotus carlton, but they were impossible to get close to because of the way the cars were jammed in!
Other than that we managed to catch up with Rich which was good :) Nice to see you mate. Good job there was an open day anyway as i fooked up and got to the meeting 40 mins late lol
well, the other car club people were telling me what they remembered about the old png & its expulsion, and they are actually quite happy with us in the new png. it seems the old club management went out of their way to upset pretty much everyone, at least, that was the concensus from the other club people i chatted to...
the biggest greivance i heard was about people using calibras as donors really...
and they are actually quite happy with us in the new png.
Always good to get feedback like that from other sources :)
yup. were you hidden in the plush offices eating buffet food then lee, whilst we were getting drizzled on???
We didn't hang around.
Quote of the day
Lee: So if you could take any of the cars here, what would you have?
Me: That RX-7 parked over there please
i talked to an old guy at the VBOA parts day, and he was wary of PNG and its history, and i got the impression he was still holding a grudge, this was obs before billing.
and i saw him today and he knodded at me. so he cant hate me/png all that much lol.
also i loved some of the memorabilia around the place, like the lotus carlton sign, and the models of the cars etc.
its the little stuff that is much more fascinating... looking at the last ever frontera isn't gonna light my fire, but the stuff on the walls was way more interesting..
was that black frontera the last ever one!?

Its the one that that was painted in the Russell Brookes 'Heat For Hire' colours. Its has now been rebuilt and will be painted in the Castrol colours, hence all th masking off.

I know what you mean, I was leaning over the back of the Lotus Carlton trying to look at them

Nice to see you & Jack aswell. Met up with Mark(Novacabrio), Mowgli, Jason Hudson(of old PNG) and a few other peeps.
yes.. a lot of the later cars were the last ever ones.. the last vectra was there too, like we needed reminding

Once the silver Corsa;s done & sold that be my next project for 110% sure!
mk1 cav pics?
sorry, it was very nice, but i managed to miss it.
Love it how the Astra 4S is just shoved up a corner out the way like lol lol
yeah, the craziest car there & it was parked really funny.. i know they had a crap reverse gear on them, but it sloped & could have been rolled out...
what engine does the astra 4s have in it? and i read its some stupid BHP
and rob, i actually didnt get a picture lol
just found this...
http://www.ocf.fi/kuvat/forum/ralli/seite3_1.jpg
astra 4s has a supercharged ascona 2.4 16v version of the old CIH, 320hp..
ps. re the mk1 cav, it was right at the front of the line & people were always stood right by it.... not great pic fodder..
Was the reverse head swindon xe on display?
there was some crazy tb'd xe in a glass case behind the vx220's & the monaro and we couldn't get close... it might have been a reverse head, i didn't pay it too much attn...cos i was so far away from it.
rob, it was this cav...

I may be being stupid but what is the point/benefit of the reverse head?
Would love a look round this place , lots of nice stuff there!

agreed
Looks a interesting place to go, if it wasn't for work I would have gone today
I always thought that the Heritage centre had a mega low miles Sport ?

it was all about packaging. they could get the engine further back in the bay with the induction gear on the front. there wasn't any gain in power iirc

if there was one there, it was well hidden.
as for the png organised trip, there was a perfectly good open day with catering & other cars as well as the heritage fleet, and other clubs turned up, and 3 png'ers were there, 4 if you include kelly
fair, but tbh, it wasnt well advertised on here. i only found out via this thread, so some more advance notice would have been better.
i knew about it months ago, cos someone put it in club chat.
i had heard about it, but i had no idea it was this weekend until i read about it at about 12.30 on that morning, so i had some sleep, and me and kelly drove down.
thats not alot of notice lol.
