A lot of Cav lovers on here so hopefully someone can help.

The central locking on the Cav has kicked the bucket, only the driver door unlocks, the rest stay deadlocked. At first I thought it was the micro switch on the drivers door but after changing it, there was no difference.

The car has just had a replacement engine fitted and a service. Whilst it was at the mechanic we asked him to check out the central locking. He diagnosed it and said the control unit is duff, but he went on to say 'the one in the passenger footwell'.

I thought the Cav only had a control unit in the drivers footwell next to the ECU. Is there one on the passenger side?

IIRC there are some electrical items on the passenger footwell but I though they were relays and such.

Can anyone clear this up for me? Need to get the door locks to operate before it goes in for bodywork this week.

No, there is no lock in the passenger door. We delocked it i.e. put in a rear door handle. All the doors are deadlocked can only open the driver door.

you can earth the unlock wire at the control box and it will unlock all the doors

OK thanks, but I'd still like to know if there are any control units or central locking equipment on the left hand side footwell. I know they have a control unit in the driver footwell. Just wanna try figure out what the mechanic was on about.

Maybe. I found the control unit in the driver footwell. I actually tapped it and it was making very odd noises, even while the battery was disconnected lol.

Sounded very odd and has pretty much persuaded me in thinking it's dead as a dodo.
