View Full Version : B reg mk1
This is my project. I had a mk1 sr 1.3 but it was completly rotten so bought a mk1 1.0 as a shell it is a b reg. I stripped everything out of the sr encluding engine, loom, seats, carpet, seatbelts, dash, rear axel everything.Havnt got many photos just random shots. I've had new rear arches done, new complete front end. Here are a few photos of the old car. http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af183/Magsclaire/Project%20Nova/th_oldnova4.jpg?t=1284916185http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af183/Magsclaire/Project%20Nova/th_oldnova5.jpg?t=1284916185http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af183/Magsclaire/Project%20Nova/th_oldnova.jpg?t=1284916185http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af183/Magsclaire/Project%20Nova/oldnova2.jpg?t=1284916308

That old one looks abit of a pear. More pics of the b reg please :p
is that the black b reg lynz advertised on here?
I went to look at the B reg, looked good apart from the rear arches and wings
Paint wasn't the best either, good base for something tho
good car that, would have made an interesting let powered sleeper.
Yeah the arches were knackered and the front end behind the lights was bad so i've had the arches done and a new front end. I had 2 wings to go on heres a few picks.http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af183/Magsclaire/Picture156.jpg?t=1284925382

There was a set of those decals for sale on Ebay a while back.
Have made small amount of progress on the nova.Mk1 loom stripped out and the sr one in so far, have stripped all four wheel arches, stone chipped and painted. Have collected a few goddies along the way, full pollybush set, coilovers, twin webbers, air box, inlet manifold, original old style wing mirror and blanking plates. Now just need to strip the underside, stone chip it then paint it. Drop out the 1litre and put in the 1.3sr and hope it still runs.

looks a good shell you have there mate, I like reading threads like this, it gets me inspired to sort my bodywork out!! Will keep an eye on this, especially if you keep it subtle with a small block engine :thumb:
stripped all the underseal off then red oxide two coats of black then finished off with two coats of black hammerite

No stone guard or anything like that??
I would strongly advise some sort of underbody protection like

aye I'd certainly recommend it, even just for road use. I need to find some decent quality stuff that will cope with gravel and loose surface
yeah the two coats of black that i first applied was stone guard or gravel grip cant remember what it was called
small update-put the car back to a rolling chasis, fitted a bee sting ariel, Started prepping the engine bay for painting. Also test fitted the gte rear bumper. Hopefully get the engine bay painted this week so I can get the loom through and to get ready for the engine to go in.
Managed to get the engine bay painted and loom pulled through. Started to bolt things back in, but having bit of trouble with the brake master servo. Im using the sr one, had all new copper lines made but cant seem to fit the driver side calliper line because the hole seems to be bigger than the passenger side one i dont know the reason for this do any of you?. Apart from that things are moving on but slowly will get pics up soon.

Stripped old doors of glass, locks etc put into other doors but am having trouble with bottom window rubber/metal need a new one. Ive started to paint the inner floor of the car, fitted the front stainless steel brake lines and other little bits and bobs. Still lots to do and parts to get.

Fitted the new polybushed tie bars with new nuts and bolts and the polybushed suspension control arms then fitted the new track rodends then fitted the coilovers with new nuts and bolts. Then fitted the two litre callipers and vented disks. Then test fitted the sr steel i have. Here are a few pics. Sorry i didnt get any of the engine on the crane.

Started her up for the first time since sorting the brakes and had a bit of a problem. There seemed to be smoke coming from behind the dash, so having to take bits of the dash back out to see if there is a wire trapped or anything liitle bit scary to say the least!

Looking good this and love the black, keep it up.
Sorry to bump an old thread did this ever get finished?
Not yet having a problem with the manifold meeting the mid section get to about 3000revs and it sounds terrible like its blowing tried tighting it and loosning it but struggling on my own but apart from that I've had a few things done. Rocker cover , sport air box polished but can't put up pics as laps top is knackerd. It's really frustrating as car is so close to being finished.
Update was having a problem starting the car so fitted a brand new starter motor also picked up a few little bits and bobs. Got front and rear black leather seats and a few engine components polished hopefully will have the car up and running before to long sorry for no picks as the laptop is broken so doing this off the iPhone
Pasted it's mot today so one more step
Closer to being finished

Got any pics of where your at with it?
Yes mate but can't up load them because the laptop is knackerd and I'm on my IPhone
Been a while but time for a update. Sent off the mot engineers report to the dvla, received back the new v5 so all legal now. Over the weekend managed to fit the 40s and sorted out the exhaust just having a few problems with the 40s as when I start it up there's a horrible tinking noise I don't suppose anyone knows what this could be?. Any help would be appreciated.
Finally got the carbs set up it runs ok now could do with a new manifold as the jam speed one is not so good. I have the black leather interior to go in but I might have to sell it as I need extra money towards a deposit for a house. I have it booked in for a spray job but might not go ahead.
Can not put up pics for some reason if you want pics I can send by phone just pm me your number
