Went in yesterday, spoke to some spactard, who said you have to have proof of an NVQ in something related to cars.
I then said, why? Its hardly worth the paper its written on a level 1, all you do is service a fukking car?
I said I have a business I can put it into, and several mates with garages who will back me up etc.
He was adament you need an NVQ 1/2/3 to proove your a mechanic.
Is this true, or is he just a spazz?

Why would you want a Halfords Trade Card?
£30 'worth' of bulbs for £2 mainly, 20% off tools, 20%ish off oil

trade card's good for things like bulbs, brake fluid etc.. all service items really. a set of wiper blades on trade would cost £4 compared to £20 which they usually are.
he is indeed a spastic. you just need anything to prove you are in the motor trade, be it a certificate, a payslip with your employers name on it. I just got my boss to write a letter on headed paper

a £12 socket turns into £7 lol
So what your saying is Quite sizeable discounts then, didn't realise you could get so much off..
I just tend to stick to local motor factors i've used for years................

yep, brake fluid which costs a fiver you can get for about £1.50 lol
MattBrown

Yeah, I only want it for some brake fluid lol
But from a motorfactor it would prob be that cheap away..
The halfolds this way wont do it on tools.

IMO everything out of there is overpriced anyway so youd only be getting stuff for the normal prices lol

Christ, lewi is back lol
I tried getting a trade card with a BEng (hons) in Automotive Electronics Engineering and working at a Tier 1 Supplier to the OEM's..... mong wouldnt let me have a card lol. So got one another way :)
I've found even most motorfactors struggle to compete with TC prices for the simple stuff.
Picked up £30 worth of stuff (air filter, wiper blades, oil filter etc) and paid less than £10 for it :) win.
NON-Halfords branded stuff isnt discounted much though :(

I got one when I waved a timetable with my name on it that said motorsport engineering on it :) Not even qualified yet :p
I got one by showing them proof of ID and three payslips, theyre quite stringent on accpeting you for one as any fukktards try to get one as it is only supposed to be motor trade employees only who are permitted to have one, lifes so much cheaper when youre in't trade lol
i just went in with one payslip and he done it there and then. In fact i need to get my trade card back from my mate lol
I got one by showing my certificate of trade insurance
matt are you actually int trade, apart from acting like a mainstealer and over inflating stuff, and bodging a vosa magnet track car together?
Surely the whole point of it being a "trade card" means you have to be in the "trade"!
Could it be at the spactards descretion?
Could it be at the spactards descretion?
No like i said, you have to be in the trade and prove this fact:p

lol Ok ... But as I merely pointed out in my previous post ... I got a Halfords trade card just from producing a certificate of trade insurance but most people blag that anyway?

I would guess so. IIRC another Vauxhall club offered trade club @ local main dealers as part of membership.
ye i had 2 show my nvq certificate lol or some sort of id that links you with the trade, its very good!! The discount is usually loads

vxon iirc but theyve stopped it as people we're just signing up as a member to get trade discount
ive always found motorfactors cheaper anyway, or theft

so your not in trade, therefore you cant have one. simples. clues in the title ffs....
Im sure I read on the Halfords website that you can produce lots of receipts to show you regularly buy motor goods in order to apply for one (i.e. work on your and your mates cars all week/weekend?)
Trade cards rock though.

Hmmm, sounds like this needs some consideration... Do you reckon they will let me have one even though I am only through my first year of my BTEC Nation Diploma in Motor Vehicle Repair and Technology??
I got one by having a mate work there. lol

An example proof requirement.....
"Business card stating they have their own Mechanics Business"
^^^so they'll accept a business card? i have a necessary qualification, but if they'll take a random business card, easily printable on any desktop, who's to stop half the country having a trade card?
No, you need the NVQ/C&G and a business card (one to prove you are a qualified mech and the other to prove you have your own business).
