View Full Version : The New Stig
Well as there will be a new Stig on Top Gear,
who are your guesses who it will be?
Mine is Ken Block as he came over to driver the reliant for no apparent reason apart from that he wont topple it :tard:
What's your guesses?
ken block will be a great stig so long as he's allowed about 100 practice power laps to lay down a good one.
It will be another guy with a lot of talent but not much fame, at least in this country. The contract will no doubt be beefed up a tad more after current stig's antics, so it will need to be someone who being the stig is a big step up in career, rather than a step down.
I didn't know there was going to be a new one tbh, there's was talk of not having one
I don't think it'll be Ken Block tho, I would imagine that he'd cost more than they can afford

No famous racing driver is going to do it, I bet the job doesn't pay that well, and the fact you have to hide your identity won't likely suit a successful racers ego.
Theres plenty of no-name good drivers out there, and besides, the stig only needs to drive around the same one track all the time - can't be that hard!

it depends if there game for a giggle or not the last two have been racing drivers at some point just not massive names!! but then you may get a big name do it for the giggle!
Personally I'm happier not knowing, although it was guessed a long time before Ben was outed I'd have been happier not knowing it was him as he was good and it kinda made TG more interesting in my opinion.

Well Baxter has sold up, surely he's been offered the job lol
No way will it be Ken Block, he has far more to be doing than the odd weekly burn about for TG.
I still think someone like Jonny Herbert personally.
theres a lad called robbie kerr. he has got tons of ability, and should get the job if there is any justice in the world....

Ken Block is too much of a hooligan.
It will be an ex circuit racer, someone not currently in full time racing sponsorship as filming wouldnt always fit in around a racing season.
Aye, deffo won't be block. Unless they just fabricate all the times.

lol lol lol
They could make a Mrs Stig and have Sabine do it :d
honestly, as there is no independant timekeeping, they could film just about anything & claim the stig is driving it..
if its going to be red i can stand in lol.

And do... hence the reason for the stig, as it means they can hide the fact that the manufacturers test driver is doing the lap and call the lap board fair.
It wont be Sabine, shes far too busy being a **** at the ring and also when people notice her missing when TG is being filmed it will be blatantly obvious.
Tbh I dont give a flying funk who it is/was/will be, its all made up and rigged anyway so who cares whats at the helm.

Its like Darth Vader, in the original films he was sinister and a really memorable character. In the prequels you see him outside of the suit, and he's just a cry baby with no presence at all.

Agreed, she drove within an inch of my Novas rear bumper on the ring, not very polite, or impressive show of skills when you have 5X as much BHP

i think it will be nigel mansell
i was thinking this myself:thumb:
our nige is not fit.. he couldn't race last weekend because of spinal damage caused by his lmp2 crash at leMans
the STIG will not be a household name.. he will be a relatively unknown driver.

well known where it counts, and unknown to the TG audience ;)

ruben barrichello would be funny as we all know how much white stig hated him :P
i don't think most of the people in the tg audience are that knowledgable anyway.. having heard the cobblers answers when they had the cool wall
all tv companies are interested in is the view out of the camera, and how to make it. being stood about in a studio somewhere can't be that much fun, and i imagine there are loads of retakes & pauses when they reset everything.

why would he take a massive paycut?????

i agree there fella and i dont think it will be a massive name driver just some one who is known to be a good driver smaller championships!!
plus i dont want to know who it is but if it is a woman we all know who it is straight away!!
Also would not be Nigel Mansell as he is a race official at F1 too..
Personally i'd rather not know..
ken block is slowly learning his trade in wrc these days.. he is actually getting better... but tyre smoking is what he's famous for

getting better, in that Mr burns or McRae could STILL beat him in their current states. lol
just put a tenner on derek bell ;)
just put a tenner on derek bell ;)
well, you probably didn't want to see that tenner again anyway, did you???
the man is 69.
and?, still one of the best drivers around. according to the interwebz and such he's the hot tip....
he was fairly quick, thats what made him such a great endurance racer...
but he wasn't all tyre smoke, and back end out...
ken block is slowly learning his trade in wrc these days.. he is actually getting better...
Debatable, he was 43rd or something in Portugal before he retired. 10th in Germany, but to be fair asphalt is his best surface.

And far less likely to screw around the BBC just to get a book deal or advance his career etc. I think a racing driver on the tail end of his career like Bell would be a safe bet for the beeb imo
but then TG wont get any 'free' advertising every few years when the stig is revealed....... so it makes financial sense to have a moderate turn over of the character to increase branding/interest in a flagging program
