I know im about 10 years too late lol but i have just set up my own paypal account because not everyone feels safe buying things off me through my bank account. However, before i start using it is there any way people can scam me or hack into my bank account through it? :wtf:

Like any other site, try not to log in from a link on an email, as you maybe typing your username and password into a fake site.
And sending or recieving money as a 'gift' to avoid fees, also means you don't have any protection from paypal if theres a problem\payment cancellation etc. So save using the gift option for people you can definitly trust.
Can only be hacked if youve got a pish easy password really. I use 2 email address, one for the masses (forums, mail order, car insurance etc) an one strictly for ebay, paypal & online banking.
The second email address I do not give out to anyone at all.

Your main problem might be trying not to spend too much money. Makes buying stuff on ebay so easy!

Your life will get so much easier using paypal chap. Once a payment has been received for say a private sale on a forum, check paypal that the payment is actually there & withdraw it to your bank account BEFORE posting item out. The buyer cant recall the payment & end up with a free item/car part etc simply because of your own negligence.

I was going to do that. I wont be buying anything for the next 12 months and all the money i recieve for parts or whatever i want taken out and put into one place. Il definetly be doing that before sending items :thumb:
And i know what you mean by making things easier to buy, but im in a saving plan and am refusing to spend any money whatsoever lol

I have 2 current accounts ;) one for normal income, other for eBay monies, as soon as it hits the account it goes straight in my ISA leaving a nil balance lol ;)

Well it's being gay already. Recieved the money from the buyer and im trying to transfer it to my bank but they have 'limited' it and im unable to do it. Stupid fees aswell.
Future reference, i don't accept paypal lol

They can still take it back. I had them pass my details onto a debt collector! I closed an account and assumed all was well, but my last buyer was being a dick, opened a dispute, won and was refunded all without my knowledge!
Careful Lee, they stiff you at any opportunity! BTW I always post recorded delivery etc etc. They're a sly bunch! I refuse to have an account now, although as you have said yourself, it makes things awkward!

I won't be accepting paypal anyway, only for those people who really refuse to put it straight into my bank. This was the first guy, iv had loads of people send money to my bank with no problems at all. Il probably just transfer the money into my dads paypal (which will cost me the fees again) and then just close it lol
