What are these Vauxhall T40s you speak of? lol The Sport has Weber DCOEs specific to the Sport (numbered 143 and 144 i think) which have vacuum take-off for the dizzy etc. What engine are you fitting to?

thats what i ment :(
at the moment i was just lookin at them on ebay, but was just woundering if they had to be the sport DCOE's to fit a nova engine such as a 1.3 etc, or if the elans would fit, but you've answered my question already lol

You can use any DCOEs really, but theres a good chance they will need re-jetting and chokes changing depending on what engine they were set up for. I'm sure you can run without the dizzy advance or can plumb it into the servo pipe somehow

^^ as he said - you dont need vauxhall or nova specific ones, tho it can help..
weber or dellorto DCOE (thatll match the mainfold then.)

My 40s came off an alfa romeo lol, had to change the chokes and jets, when it came to vac advance i simply drilled and tapped the manfiold with some fittings, some vac pipe and a t piece onto the distributor, job done :)

as long as they are 40's thats all that matters mate mine came off another sr nova before me but there not sport carbs and thats a certainty!! any 40's will do fella so long as youve got the right inlet! then if the jets/chokes are wrong for example off a 2ltr they will need changing and setting up and thats that!!

Dont bother with a vacuum advance, I was told you are better off without it on an engine equipped with 40's. The Sport carbs were an emission carb AFAIK which is why they were fitted with the vac take off's. Also they are not specific to the Sport, they were fitted to another model before the Sport was born ;). For performance a normal set of DCOE's would be better and cheaper
