Right guys im pretty new to the forum so sorry if this is posted on the wrong forum but I think iv got it pretty spot on :)
I'm currently only 17 and learning to drive and i would like to get insured on a 1.2 nova but every 'quote' iv been given has been like £2900!
Iv only put 3rd party fire and theft .
Average of 9,000 miles per year.
and on a secured drive way during the night.
So I was wondering if any of you could suggest good companies that can insure young drivers for less!
as I want to leave as much money as possible to give my Nova my 'Own' touch! :)
Thanks,
Jake
9,000 per year on L plates? You can bring that down a fair bit lol

Insurance is hard on young people at the moment, My only advise is to keep shopping around. Find the 4 or 5 best priced companies, lift the phone and call them to see if there is anything better.
Take a high excess, make sure the car is garaged, low mileage of about 5,000 would be fine for your first year, it's a guideline anyway.
Cheers

After i pass mate! i have a apprenticeship lined up and i will have to drive quite a few miles everyday :'(
But i see from where your coming from i might just change it to 5,000
Nightmare!
Everything alters the price, although some things more than others. Check with the insurance company to see whats adding the most on. Cutting the milage is an easy way to drop the price. Although most of the price is for the car (how nickable, how many have been stolen crashed in your area) Nova's don't do well at these sections so maybe a different car, or just a 1 litre for now?
Pass plus can also help, as it proves you are sensible enough to think about it for one thing. The insurance companies work on the assumption that you will crash in the first two years of driving (they are usually right) and expect you to hit a nice expensive Mercedes thats why the price is high.
Persevere it will get cheaper as you get older (but not much lol )

to be honest mate, i'm sorry to say it, but it looks like thats not much more than what you're going to manage to get insurance at.
my bro is in same boat at the moment, and he's looking at knocking on 3000 for insurance (not that he's going to bother at that much), mainly cause of our BD postcode.
surprisingly, at the moment, apart from sh1tty 0.9 Cecentos (sp?) and the like, i cant find a car cheaper than my 1.2 Nova to insure.
I'm 19 though, with 2 years no claims.

For your age you will struggle :(

Secured driveway?? Whats that. Try FC it might be cheaper?

You want to mod it?? That will put the price up for sure.
Thanks,

Check that first, as its not always as good a saving as it costs to do. But worth looking into.
TBH, 9k is about right for a first year - I covered well over 10 in my first year as I just wanted to drive everywhere.
Try adding parents or other more experienced drivers as second drivers. Forget modifications, and perhaps look at semi-new cars with tiddly engines. Also have a look at the postcode lists on here to give you a rough idea of how good your area is.
At the end of the day though I still reckon you'd be paying well over a grand, probably more like £2k for a first year cover. Insurance has become absolutely rediculous in the past few years - I made a thread a while ago where I tried to find the cheapest insurable car for a 17 year old, and couldn't get lower than £2k lol
insurance are fukkin bastads.end of.Ive just turned 25 and its made absolutely fukk all difference, even though it used to be an age where it reduced significantly

lol i got told 25 make big differance to but not a differance at all i used adrian flux for all my nova they seemed the best and as there more modded cheaper it seem to get
25 used to, My insurance dropped by about 20%/£120 when I hit 25.
Now it seems it makes sod all difference lol Mind you, I'm paying around the same price now to insure the Celica then I did 3 years ago.... but that does include adding Hayley and a handful more mods.
How much is insurance for a nova when its modified? I will be 21 for my next renewal with (hopefully) 3 years no claims and only have a little 1.2 nova with basic mods like suspension and alloys and exhaust system and lights.

So many factors to consider, its impossible to say. Ring and get a quote will be your best bet.
i only know of adrian flux, time to google search it seems :)
