Never really considered fitting it as it seems a rare bit of kit, but how rare are they? ie whats the chances of picking up a decent one?

What sort of proven power increases do they give and how well do they respond to headwork and cam changes (or do they throw up problems with the ECU?)

Just after any info on the kit, rep for good info :thumb:

Cant be that rare, theres a few sets knocking about on here overthe last year or so. Edd has 2 kits now.

Should be fine with mild cam upgrades, nothing 'rally' lairy though as with most injection systems though.
I'm pretty sure they are good for 90ish bhp. They were designed as a power upgrade whilst being emmissions compliant in scandinavian countrie (back in the 80's)

would it be any good for a road rally engine? was looking to throw 12ST pistons in a 13S bottom end to make 1396cc and then make a nice reliable nippy motor. Nothing silly but enough to be competitive

err, it could probably run. The map wouldnt be ideal for it, so ign timing would need to be optimised on a rollling rd & I'd guess the fuel pressure might want looking into also.

Those pistons/block combo makes for a high CR.

yeh iv seen it, thats what set the ball rolling lol Craig, i know about the high comp, i was wondering the flexibility of the map regarding adjusting fuelling and ignition, ie how far you can push it

Someone might correct me, but playing with the advance on the dizzy & fuel pressure via an FPR should see you good. Likewise an injector swap aswell.
failing that, the plenum & TB will be ideal with megasquirt or DTA etc.

Cheers again Craig, just looking at my different options for induction. Twin 40s are out of the question due to road rally regs only allowing a maximum of two chokes

The book figures are +13HP on a standard 1.3 engine, hoping to finally fit Irmscher Injection to the SR this winter, maybe:)

I am sure th kit can be tweaked as well, although a high lift cam can/will cause problems with the flapper AFM(SR engine has a holbay 270 installed for it) Engine is also balanced, big valve head, lightened flywheel

But the fuel pressure/ignition can be altered

Best solution would me to run engine management and do away with the AFM;)

I am intending to run a fairly stock injection system:)

for road rallying I'd be tempted to try a pair of inch and half SU's, but you's have to fabricate a manifold. thats if you didnt want to go down the injection road.

Single Weber 40/45 might be an option (would need a custom manifold though)

or a weber 44 IDF fitted to a MK1 astra 1300 inlet, I think that would be the best way to go with least amount of fabircation.

cheers for the input lads, im just considering all options really carb or injection. A twin choke on a Mk1 Astra inlet was another possibility i was looking into

Just my opinion but I'd go for the injection kit

The one on the bay has the metal air box and lid, which are normally missing from kits, injectors are missing but you would ideally want cleaned ones any way

Cheers Edd, i will keep an eye on it. Cheers Royston for a bit more technical info :)

I have installation instructions if you get that far

Alot of the parts used on the kit are std vauxhall 1.8e inj cavalier got a list some where

it will be differant matey id use 40's though but then injection will be differant!!

and for rallying if 40's are out off the question you could use a 32/34 that would bring a little more power! and you can get a mounting plate for your manifould to fit it! i got johny turbo a 1.3 lump with one!

107. Fuel injection may be fitted where it was standard
equipment by the manufacturer for that engine type
and where the original plenum chamber and throttle
body is retained for that engine type.

Quoted from the Blue Book. Do you think the Irmscher kit will pass?!

I don't know the current rules, but Irmscher injection was used on some Rally cars in the eighties, it was also standard equipment on the Corsa Sprint & some Spiders

Hope that helps;)

Could you run a 32/34 instead (Alot cheaper)

Or, if your running a 1400, run irmscher if you insist, with 1400cc sri injectors and fuel rail?

Or, just run it on SRI multipoint?

I was told by the guys at Velos when it was going that a twin choke Pierburg off a 1.8 Sierra will fit and is just as good as 40's, dont know how true that was though.

The injection kit on Ebay is missing the fuel rail which is specific to this kit and not available anymore. I tried a 18e one & Nova GTE rail but neither fit

Anyone know what throttle cable is meant to be used with the kit ?

Or is it a special one only for the kit ?

Mk1 Astra GTE should work AFAIK

Mmmm got a box with about ten in so I think I'll have a try with some of them first

o.p if you have access to a 2e3 then getting cav mk3 1.8 jets are a bonus, with a spikey cam etc this works well. dad had a mk2 astra estate with a 1400 sr lump, and a 1.8 carb, went like stink. hanes has the jet sizes in it, i can post em up tonight.
