Want new phone contract. Both mine and Hayley's are up in October so we're looking round for ideas. HTC desire has stuck out as the phone we prefer over the likes of blackberry and the Jesus phone.

Needs: HTC desire (anyone who suggests an iPhone gets a 24hour ban); unlimited text; minutes... not too bothered as I don't like talking to people lol; internet at least 250mb, preferably >500mb.

Prefer 18 month contract, would go for 24 if price was right. Looking to pay no more than £30 a month.

Make with suggestions plz thankingyou.

I'm on orange at the mo so might give them a tinkle and see what they can do for me. I did find a tmobile contract online which was 18 month, £25, 300 mins, unlimited text, 500mb data and was either a free desire or £30 for it. Not too shabby, but thats tmobile and I've never had any experience of them lol

You probably wouldn't have any experience of them when you signed up either, as you'll have no signal and no fcuker will answer the phone to you when you phone them (off of another phone because yours has no signal, of course) lol

my brother got talked into blackberrys by orange....bad move in construction/haulage...... ther are way too delicate.......anyway, having stripped the roller ball a few times for cleaning, the ringtones got quieter & quieter.. so he swore ar orange & as revenge, got an iphone thing... which promptly went wrong.. so he rang the helpline to be told, yes, send it back, and we'll send you a new one but we need your credit card no, and we'll be taking £300 from it as a guarantee.. the voice was irish.... so they got told to simply Forklift trUCK off, and orange got a billhooking. i now have an e71 & my bro has one of the new 'unbreakable' nokias.........

I ring up to ask if they'll fix my phone as the charger jack is wobbly so wont always charge (They wont help at all in the shop) all she did was give me a fault code after trying to fob me off and tell me to buy a new charger :confused:

Not too keen on any phone with a full on qwerty keypad tbh. Whatever happened to a 10-ish digit keypad!

thought I wanted the HTC desire but now im not sure. I have been recommended the Samsung wave or galaxy... a part of me is just wondering if it would be easier to keep my trusty N95 :roll:

I have dabbled with a number of jesus phones (and a whole raft of other fruit-branded technology) and I just don't like it tbh. Having to jailbreak one, the menu layout and general system usage, the totally random/pointless apps, a fair number of the people I know have broken/scratched/damaged theirs relatively easily and I'm a bit of an ape with a phone (hence not being overly keen on touchscreen to begin with)... its just a whole lot of little niggles that add up to a general dislike. Plus there's a bunch of nerds at work who would see me as being part of their "club" if I had any apple product lol, and yes a lot of it is down to brand loyalty (takes a lot to drag me off my Nokias, but thats what I know and am used to) and thats just how it is

i went from an n97 big to a 3g iphone i bought for just £50 and its the best move ive ever made tbh

The iphone may be fuc*ed now but it still works lol half the glass screen missing as i dropped it but new ones on ebay only cost a tenner so a cheap fix.

Its jail broken, free apps, etc, etc

The only thing i dissagre with the iphone is the stupid tarriffs they have created for them, im still on my nokia tarrif £35 a month for 1200 minutes, unlimited texts, and unlimited internet and its perfect for the iphone :)

Just waiting to find a iphone 4 cheap haha and cut my sim down and use it in that

i have a blackberry storm i drop it ruffly 10 times a day put it in my pocket with keys and money and its stilll running fine no marks on the screen case is scratched but works great i use the keypad as the 10 diget one just like a normall phone it does the job for me i get a new phone fairly often becouse they always seem to be slippy and fly out my hands i also will never have an iphone i think thier a bit gay

Still not convinced on the iphone front, I'm not too keen on the jailbreaking to get free apps - rebranding a Nokia to get latest firmware is one thing, as they'll still support the warranty; would apple honor warranty on a jailbroken iphone? - especially when free apps for Symbian and Android are readily available.

Plus as said, its still a brand thing... I'd feel dirty using an apple lol Its bad enough coming out of my comfort zone to look at something that isn't a nokia, the X3/X6 is still a strong contender for me [edit] Lee, deffo not getting a 97! Mind you, have you rebranded it and tried the latest firmware from Nokia?

Its been back 4 times, and each time its been handed back i've been assured all the bugs would be fixed, and when i touch the screen, things will actually happen.

Since the last time its been back I switched it on once, someone called me and I was unable to answer it. So its on the shelf and will probably go to mazuma in the not too distant future.

Handed back to your network operator though? They probably will only have flashed it to their own firmware - my N95 was a little fragile when I first got it, so I rebranded and flashed to the latest Nokia firmware (orange were about 18 months out of date lol) and it was solid as a rock.

Thats pretty good, orange are supposed to be ok too, not the best signal around but even the lower covered ones are usable in 95% of places nowadays.

Customer service is half decent, friends have had issues with them before that have been resolved, housemate had a go at them once as he was sold a contract as unlimited texts before the 3k thing came in, with a 3000 fair usage policy in the small print, but I believe it was actually sorted in the end, so not too bad imo, least he got somewhere with it.

you can simply restore the phone if you ever need to send it back with itunes and theres no trace of the jailbreak :)

Then jailbreak when you receive it back and install an old restore setting and hey presto back to how it was :)

I love the format of my N97, the keypad and touch screen are up to the job of the 2500 txts I send but it's a fragile thing. I'm on my second in a year and need a third as I have too many hardware issues.

The 32GB is great I have 3600 songs on it but it's internal memory is shocking so I have practically no apps.

I'd say to avoid. If I had a clean/safe job and wasn't clumsy as feck I'd get a HTC

Ive had my iphone 4 for about 5 months now and never had any problems with it.
I was always a nokia person before and never got on why anybody would want an iphone that was untill o2 offered it to me as a free upgrade.
I love it now and dont leave home with out it.
Ok the baterys aint to good on it but thats only if you decide to play angry birds all day lol.

I had a HTC Desire on T-Mobile but sent it back (I am a serial timewaster with phones lol ).

They're ok but the battery isn't really up to the job. The platform is also majorly fragmented. You have Google developing Android, the phone manufacturer developing their interface and then the networks want their slice of the action and whatever makes it down onto your phone is some kind of amalgamation of the three. If you're bothered about updates and features god knows which network is first out with releases. Or you could just wipe it and run the manufacturer 'OEM' spec and get updates as soon as the manufacturer has released them but it's just messing about for the sake of it.

I currently use a Nokia 5630XM (http://www.nokia.co.uk/find-products/all-phones/nokia-5630-xpressmusic) with a 32gig MicroSD card on with all my CD's on there.

Just buy John's Phone (http://www.reghardware.com/2010/09/16/mobile_johns_phone/) and have done with it.

I am currently using the blackberry pearl 9105. It does not have the qwerty keypad and does not have the roller ball. so far not had any problems with it all. Its on o2 for a 24 month contract and with that I get 500 minutes, unlimited uk texts to any network, 500mb of data and unlimited WI fi.only costs me 25 pound a month and never had to pay a penny for the phone. I have tried the I phone and find this one a lot easier to use.

The exact wording in the contract is unlimited public wi fi through the cloud. Been using mine all the time and have never managed to exceed my limit Lol
