i have no trade im free for anything. i have experiance in customer service sales factory packing and supervisory. the job center hasnt helped for the last 6 months and job agencys only provide work for 1 week so signing off for a week and then waiting for the job center to get my claim back up and running means i go without money for over 3 weeks. i have try'd to get in to the police west mercia and west midlands but it dose not look good yet. will keep applying. i have applyed to be a red coat also.
You know its bad when you ask PNG.
Good luck.

Thank you :thumb: work is hard to get these day's
your main issue seems to be a lack of core employment skills. focus on your c.v, is it good? iirc jack likes looking at them for you if you ask nicely. apply for all jobs, irrespective of wage, type of work etc. also cold call employers, get the yellow pages and just ring and ask politely "hello there, my name is xxx i am calling in respect to possible job vacancies in your organisation" does the trick. you need to put yourself around more than a $10 whore...
as for jcp being unhelpfull, there are massive changes atm that affect businees delivery, ask for more frequent interviews, or pop in every day.

cheers rob i will give the phone book a go and see if i get anywhere. keep your fingers crossed everyone and i might have a job very soon. unless i end up being a $10 whore giving 10% discount lol

edit: just writing up a new C.V now. i will give jack a pm and see if he will read through it for me. cheers guys

builders always need labourers
thats the only job im trying to avoid atm. i know its stupid and i could get a job as a helping hand on a work yard but i would rather find a job out of that area.
labourers atm get paid min wage, do 60 hr weeks, and have to have a cscs card aswell as other b/s. your wise to avoid it. try shop fitting/suspended ceilings.

Builders laborer?
Bloody hard work, but rewarding.
Cleaning?
Stacking shelves?
Postman? (people who do it adore it)
bus driver? our bus co pays your training.... or how bout delivery driver for a take away....?
Make sure your CV is 100% up to date and as good as it can be, I know the jc where I am has places that you can go to for free to have them checked over and made up as best as possible.
I also found that the jc and agencies weren't much help when I was looking for a job. I found that actually getting out there and going around town and asking was alot more helpful. Employers apparently prefer getting that first impression of you when you come in and give them your CV and have a chat :)
Good luck, I hope you find something soon!

Just do not be tempted to use your own car as your insurance will not cover you unless you take out a business policy, you can and will lose your licence if youre caught:eek:

tanya i am heading over to nextstep to go through my cv with them and see if i can improve it a bit. i know im not going to find a job that had a wage like my last but it would be nice. i have try'd applying for a job in tesco's and lidl (damn good pay in lidl) but they arnt taking on and the only job in tesco is checkout!!! no thanks done that once never again sitting on a checkout for 8 hours a day. there is a trading estate down the road from me so i will go down there with a load of copys of my cv printed off and hand them around asking everyone for a job. im finding it hard to find a job up here in kidderminster i have started to ask my freinds in cornwall to keep there ears open for a job down there. i dont mind where the job is as i am happy to relocate. i have just got a volenteering place to contact the police in the area to see if they can get me in part time i have been told that will help fill the gap on my cv.

If you won't sit at a checkout you don't sound like your very keen?
It's too easy to sign on IMHO!
Good luck though:)
police aren't hiring......simple as that.
have you tried sticking an ad in the local paper listing a few skills & asking for a job.. it has worked for me, ok, i got a couple of shonky jobs, but i'm proud of my only being unemployed for 3hrs.......ever

i have worked on a checkout before with asda for over a year and it was the worst job i have ever had. i found myself getting so bored that i would re program the checkout to print out random things on the recipt so for example if someone bought a brand of sausage's it would show up on the recipt 1xmonkey meat bangers i found this funny also i ended up shuting down other peoples tills just for a laugh. the things you can do on a checkout is ridiculas as they are mini computers linked together. needless to say i got told off. so there's a reason why i dont wish to find a job on a checkout also like rob said long hours and hard work for minimum wage isnt a job i wish to be in (labouring) your right tho signing on is to easy and they have only just started to check if you apply for jobs on your job search sheet. so maybe it will change a bit and get people in to work rather then sponge.
edit: i havnt thought of advertising in the paper i have advertised on facebook and on here.
edit2: thanks for all the advice and hints and tips i have them all wrote down and putting it all in to action asap. thanks again everyone and cheers for the hopfull response's
I was lucky and I managed to find a job that actually paid more then my last one. I know how horrible it it is to sign on. After I got made redundant from my first job I refused to sign on at all.
Even if a place isn't hiring leave them your CV anyway, chances are it will be forgotten or thrown in the bin but theres that small chance they may actually keep it!
Keep your chin up :) It can be a long process but you will find a job soon. Just gotta keep your eyes and ears open and be available for anything.

Yeah, I have worked since I was barely 16, before I started my apprentaship I worked in my model shop who sponsored my racing, did house removals (hard work)
And washed pots and pans in a pub. Doing 10 hour shifts etc!
It's one of them, I am work orientated, and get a great satisfaction out of material possessions, some aren't....

It is far far to easy! My mum is a complete lay about and she'll just put down that she's been looking and make up complete lies. She'll go for a job interview maybe once a month just to make it look like shes trying.
It's really sad!
well, i'm glad i never visited your asda.....
the staff are excellent in our local stores, helpful, efficient, usually got a joke, but they have been doing it as a long term job for years & years..
the worst store in our area is the tesco.. its full of young fould mouthed lads who obviously don't want to be there.

maybe it is not just me that dosnt like working on the checkout's i was a nice polite joking guy on the checkout would help the customer alot but then i would get fed up with people that would just treat me like a machine litterly try to stuff money down my throat and tell me there change isnt how they wanted it.... if i have no option at the end of the month then i think i might have to go back that way. but in the mean time i can search my @$$ off and try to find a job. there is a CNC machinist job going in the area but they want experinced people. i have no idea what a CNC machine is but i still ring them up asking for a job
Ive been lucky and only ever had to sign on once, i was out of work for about seven months and it took four months for my mum to persuade me to sign on purely for national insurance contributions, it was the single most heartbreaking thing i have ever done and i will never ever do it again!
Ive worked in supermarkets, woodyards as a labourer, ive worked for a pallet racking firm, a pizza shop as a delivery driver (which im now doing again part time after my hours were halved at work) luckily im back at full time hours but keeping on the delivering on a weekend purely to save for my cav turbo, took the halved hours at my main job as it was a choice between that or the dole que, and im never taking the dole que option again!
Another good bit of advice I was given (not to everyones taste) do some volunteering. I know you don't get paid for it but it looks good on your CV, alot of businesses are getting involved in charity work now-a-days so it makes a good impression and also it shows that your not sat around all day doing nothing. It fills in some gaps on your CV! :)

Regarding the CNC machinist job... are they looking for an operator, setter/operator or a programmer?? If you are untrained in CNC then you only have a chance of being employed as an operator, as thats just a case of loading the machine and pressing start and stop. Setting and programming is skilled work so they will obviously be looking for someone with relevant training and experience. Hope this helps :)
I would say join the army, but even they have a years waiting list http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd220/lostboy_014/no.gif
