engine seems slugish changed dizzy cap and usual things! but still runin bit dodgy

When coming up to stop or sitting in traffic the engine idles nicely at 500rpm then just cuts out e.g the revs just drop!

Also when i was changing plug leads notice the lead which comes from coil had green stuff on it and was starting to corrode and it was the same in side the bit it goes into on the distibitor cap!

its a 1.0 j reg

does anyone no what it could be?

Your points inside your dissy may need adjusting or replacing. Check the haynes on how to do it. IF you do replace your points be sure to change the ironisor(cant remember how its spelt!??) as well.

As for the corrosion clean aal the connectors & spray with WD40.

could be carb / fuel prob - if no acceleration could be too lean/rich/idle mix.

Think engine is supposed to idle at 900rpm's not 500 - cutting out coz its too low perhaps

what about fuel filter? sounds like possible fuel starvation. the fuel pump may be able to get it through at higher revs but the filter could be clogged restricting flow

idle should be no less than 750 and ideally no higher than 1200

1000rpm is perfect

turn the idle up a bit

ahh, the 1.0 is different to the other nova engines. it might need its tappets setting as it doesnt have the overhead cam configuration.
