I've recently started doing scrap metal collection as i can't get no work anywhere:( and today while i was out and about I spotted these just sat in peoples gardens rotting, a mk3 escort xr3i convertable,an old bmw 6 series (not sure which model) and more importantlylol a cavalier and calibre turbo.but why do people buy good cars like this just to let them rot in their gardens?it really p****s me off:mad:

its a waste but some people are just to proud to let things go. i know an old guy who has had a mark 1 golf gti since it was brand new and it looks amazing never out in the wet but when it comes down to it he would probinly let it rot rather than let it go

I really cant see what the point is of leaving stuff like that just to rot to nothingness, i mean okay maybe if its going to be fixed up but if theyre not even going to repair them or do anything with them at all then why??

Its like the abandoned ones thread on RR, some of those are just shocking and upsetting

Even if you didn't drive a car like this, and just kept it for the memories, at least give it a clean now and then! And why is it parked OUTSIDE of that garage!? unless theres an even more impressive car inside

Theres a 50's vaux up the road from me thats been laid up on axel stands for probably 20 years. Its pretty much pure rust, and I'm surprised the council hasn't had it removed. Can't see why people waste cars like this, can't bare to let them go, but won't look after them either. Why would you watch something you care about rot away to nothing instead of passing it on to someone who will look after it ande let it live on.

I wouldnt advise that at all, that could and would cause us a lot of problems if all and sundry tip up and start banging on their doors for these cars, where did you find out about these cars, oh it was posted on the internet.

Not a good idea at all so please refrain from posting any location details, they will be removed and people tickled with the banhammer if needed!

They're ALL rotting away, it's just he doesn't choose to drive his. lol (It is sad to see though)

The house opposite mine has a Peugeot 205 and 406 on his drive, never seen the road in the three and half years i've lived here.

The daft thing is, road space is rather sparse so if he sold/scrapped them, he'd always have somewhere to park.

Some of you people really need to get a life, When you buy somthing it becomes yours. You can then do whatever you like with this said thing.
Yeh its a shame its a shame, but there are plenty more of most of the cars listed around and about. Id rather keep a car and let it rot than sell it to most of the car forum world who would change everything (things) on that car that ment somthing to me in the first place. As far as im concerned its none of anyones buisness what I do with any of my cars.

If people were not interested in other peoples cars and what they do with them (good or bad) - forums like this would be empty.

Funny how everyone will comment on a car with bad bodykit fitted for instance, but when it comes to letting them rot, or scrapping them for no good reason, suddenly its not so polite to have an opinion.

Exactly, I can kinda see why some people get annoyed about it - they see someone letting something special go to waste. Especially in this case, where people appear to have approached the guy to sell and he's just carrying on letting it sit there and rot. If he's not going to use it, why not let someone else restore/enjoy it? Plus its not really sound financial sense to let something of value like that crumble away and lose all its value.

Me... meh. If it was something I desperately wanted, maybe. But most of the time I'd just go find what I wanted elsewhere.

draper

Making it harder for himself by just letting it sit there and rot though! If he was that bothered about it, surely he'd cover it over or something to stop people going on about it. Meh, perhaps he's just doing it on purpose to annoy the easily-wound-up GM brigade lol

End of the day 99% of the people nocking on his door wont have or be willing to part with the cash its worth to buy it anyway.

The owner will have either payed alot for it years ago or been given it because its worth a high value. In the back of his mind he prob thinks one day i will restore it "it will only cost a few hundred quid"

Car must be worth £5k -£7k if mint ones are £15k +

So how many pikey scrap men would buy it if the owner answered the door and said you can take it away for £5k?
