No one of admin will have deleted it because of the eBay link ;) We don't need it anyway. ;)

Do you still own the Sport then? Btw there's a Sport section on here, get joined up :thumb:

I haven't owned a Sport for years now :(

I'll get another one one-day. I'm STILL spending on building work at my house which we started 18 months ago,......when that's out of the way I'll start looking again.

I've owned two Sports and helped build my replica too.

One I bought that was rotten. I sold the car as an identity but kept all the engine parts back for my replica.

Found a 42K mile SR locally that was perfect as a basis for a replica. Despoilered, new inner and outer arches, new wings, new metal front airdam, new genuine bumper from Germany, new respray, new Ashley backbox as a one-off mated to a large bore Ashley centre section etc and I got it to this....

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/dangly/IMG_0310.jpg

Then I sold it to a local Vauxhall nut who did the suspension, alloys and stickers....

Such a shame to see whats become of the other one, obviously seeing the thread in sport zone, deep down you knew it used to be mint and new at one point before it was parked in a bush and left to rot but seeing it as it was makes it a little more personal and makes me  a little inside!

that yellow van I WANT

Yeah, that van belonged to a couple of rally driver chaps we knew out Ulverston way. It was filled with spares and towed a large trailer with their yellow Nova rally car on (I have pictures somewhere). The car had a stupidly lairy cam that made it totally lumpy low down but pushed something like 120bhp at peak!!!.....not bad for a 1.3 back in 1993. It had a fuel cell that they put a gallon of fuel in once and it ran out at the end of the 7 mile stage LOL!! Interestingly, it cost more to insure the diesel Sherpa than the lairy rally car.

I feel I should in some ways, especially as I knew the car locally, chatted to the owner (some bloke with a ponytail) and still remember the awesome noise it made with the K&Ns on (though he probably lost a bit of torque).

Trouble is, I moved 300 miles south to West Sussex in 1996 so it's not exactly 'handy' anymore. My dad is still up that way, but he doesn't share my same interest in rusty old Novas :d

Building work swallows up tens of thousands in no time at all,.......no money in the pot for 'hobby' cars yet :(

dj_wudgey
10-09-10, 10:13 AM
gutted would be nice to see it get bought and reshelled than striped and scraped! but as you say building work isnt cheap and im not suprised you have no money for cars wile having work on your house! hope some one off here buy's it and doesnt scrap it i supose lol

My mate runs the gearbox from one in his V8 Dolomite. Crawler gear FTW! lol

The vans are SH!T though! I used to have to drive LDV Pilots and Convoys for work. :(

Nice to see some background info on that Pear on eBay, er Sport. :)

That is just about right @ +3HP, as I own a TP Vitesse myselflol

Std Vitesse 190 HP, TP 193 HP (I have seen an official letter from Rover)

In Touriing Car Spec it enabled the 3.5 rover engine to break 300 HP (@320HP) which was dominant until RS Cosworth Sierras came along;)

Also the sherpas with RV8 were in Carbs, then Single Plenum injection not Twin Plenum

TP were only fitted to @ 200 Rover SD1 Vitesses for holmogation purposes for touring car racing, system was developed by Lotus. Will post some pics soon.

Rover V8 is a lazy engine, doesn't produce massive HP for size:(

750HP is alot, don't have any info really will be over 3.5 capacity 5.0+?;)

She's a Late Softdash 3.9 vogue SE on air suspension, engine wise fairly stock, high torque cam, stainless steel headers and sports exhaust. On LPG, I rebuilt the engine and has thick wall top hat liners fitted, hoping to take her up to 5.0 or 5.2 litres one day a a bit of porting;)

She was running 17.7 standing quarter, carrying all the gear for the day, incuding my heavy tool boxlol
