I've been offered my mates R5 at a very good price. I probably wouldn't consider buying it usually but it is a bargain, same price i'd get a tidy 1.2 nova for. driven it before and it runs fine (now) but they're problem cars, and french.. Only problem i've got is i cant keep changing cars constantly cause im starting to p*ss a few people in my family off, i've had my license just over a year and had 11 cars. want a nova ideally.. but would be longer til i can get it, and im currently off the road and need to get on it ! and this fits perfect into my budget. He's just spent £500 on it, and he isnt asking much above that.

It was a cat c write off and needs a VIC inspection. it is mechanically sound and the bodywork is near mint..and its a pocket rocket. Between us we've just finished the last bit of work.

What would you do ? wait it out and get what you really want or grab a bargain ?

my mates rolled 2 of them. Nippy for what they are but if those people your pissing off are parents, dont bother with it lol

Or buy and sell as a profit

What boost is it running/what work has been done?

There's an awesome grey one around here on ph2 16v wheels and a black one has just popped up for sale. Totally bog standard. :) They are cool.

I still think Sean Wheelans (sp) was the coolest ever though.

The repairs spot on. was in 2008 and has had one owner since. 3 owners from new. Is VIC just an identity check ? or check its road worthy like a mot.. It needed a brake hose and welding for MOT, which has been done.

I'v always wanted one, always had a soft spot for em too. Insurance is a lot but might be worth it ? i'd be okay if it only had minor issues, but i cant expect that from a french car lol I had a s1 106 xsi, loved it,1400,but it went well. think this will be a lot more fun

gc_vaux

I'l try and get photos..
I could williams it (i think they fit?) or 2l megane, probably be more reliable then. But will decrease its value a fair bit

Iv got a pic of the standard one up.
Needs a bit of de-chavving, its £200 with t&t. goin for a drive tonight. i want a project and the GTT doesnt need anything (until it goes wrong) or i could re-shell it, but that would simply be for fun.. not a lot of point

i live in witham st hughs, these 2 are in bassingham if you know where that is.
19 + turbo = alot on insurance
I could get both and hang onto the turbo for a year, rep the 1400 until i get rid and put the parts back on the gtt

lol if all's okay with the standard one when i drive it tonight its coming home with me for 200 sheets. i'v seen it thousands of times but the turbos always been sat there so its never caught my eye :p
Now its either have big plans for the 1400.. or get the gtt and save it (as above) hmmmm
Think i'd rather have a nice car on the road, then in the garage..

Turbo insurance - £2830
1400 - £1250

the standard one is definetaly coming back, il settle with just lowering it, a tidy up, stripped out and some nice wheels.
still worth a lot more than im paying. than il see how much i fall in love and then see about the turbo.
Just got told i can go on my parents insurance with the 1400, just not with a turbo. Even though i had a vtec civic before..hmmm, parents dont make any sense lol

Give it a go :) never owned a nova, or fitted a sunroof to one, only engine mounts,a.r.b and driveshafts, so not really the best person to ask but if theres a latch there im guessing they'l bolt on
