on the back of the engine above the starter there is a valve thing with 2 air pipes going to it what does it do? And anyone know if i can get one off another engine as the one on mine the plastic has come out of the metal sleeve and i cant get it back in. Think its vital to the engine running if not ill leave it. Anyone shed any light on it for me as im planning on putting the engine in this weekend but cant if this part stops the engine running properly

If it's the one near the bottom of this pic with the 2 pipes then it controls the EGR I think. One pipe goes to the throttlebody and the other to the egr, I'm not sure how to remove the egr, but perhaps a search would find some answers

thats the one on mine the bit of plastic the two pipes go on to has come out of the metal casing but it just unscrews out like a temp sensor so is there another engine with this on that i can take it off that might be in my local scrappies might even be able to get one from motor factors?

Not sure mate, wait and see what Mazz comes up with, you may be able to do away with it.

well in theory i should be able to link the 2 pipes together and blank the egr valve then all will be fine. One other thing there is a pressure a pressure plenum behind it goin into a water way, is this going to stay water tight?
