View Full Version : C20let eml
My mate has a mk3 astra with a c20let and his eml light comes on is it a 4 or 2 digit code it reads out
2,it will flash then pause then flash
Example
--- pause - that would be code 31 it will start with - pause -- which is just to say its at the start of a sequence of codes.Dont worry if you miss them 1st time,it repeats over and over
Does it repeat the code thrice then to the next yeah
It does the code/s once then goes through the sequence again
Flashed the codes and it came up knock sensor and crank sensor
I can't see the crank sensor though lol
its at the front to the left hand side, held in by a single allen bolt a couple of inch up from the sump
You will always get crank sensor fault code if the engine isn't running.

I thought that but looking down or up at it I can't see it will get it jacked up and have a proper look where is the knock sensor located?

Is the crank sensor taking a reading from inside the pulley or the outside? As the outside looks even with no teeth for readings
Trigger wheel is inside the engine on the crank.

You say that but all Vaux's I've diagnosed have never come up with the crank sensor whilst it's not running.
20XE's and LET's always do. There are no other Vauxhall engines worth mentioning IMO. lol

Swedge if you follow the coolant temp sensor wires then look down where the front engine mount bolts you should see a wire going down thats the cranksensor, and the knock sensor is down the back of the block is an under the car jobbie.
What number code you getting for the knock sensor as it could be a broken wire as i had the same problem on my XE and i got code 16.
Damo.
got codes 16 and 19, I told him to make sure the knock sensor was plugged in as it's just had a rebuilt bottom end and has only had these problems since then

Yea also make sure the plugs for the ICV/knock sensor are the right way round i.e red to knock, black to ICV.
Also make sure the cranksensors plugged in right too.
