wheel bearings?

i have a noise a friend says it sounds like a worn wheel bearing i have jacked the car up and felt all the wheels but none of them have play in them is there a way of checking the wheel bearings or could the noise be something else?

spin the wheel up feel a part of the car chassis or body or suspension mount and if the bearing is worn you will feel roughness or you will be able to hear the noisy bearing works for me.
