Right guys i might not have to sell my nova track shell now so could be one the look out for a engine.

Thing is i think i'm going to go for a N/A one just to keep cost down an think it will be better for track.

So i'm think either a 2.0 8V or a 2.0 16V engine.

Think i will run them more or less standard unless i find ne thats been tuned in someway for right kind of money.

So whats the pro an cons guys.

Weight vs bhp is it worth it to go for the 16v one or not?

All comments an ideas welcomes plus if you have one for sale pm me. cheers in advance

My 2.0 8v was bomb proof always a reliable engine

This is another thing i'm thinking as my old 1600 8v on 40's was bulit proof an really quick for what it was

no contest. other than saving a few quid when buying the engine itself and servicing it/buying some mods. Or to keep it period looking.
16v everytime.

16v.

Power is produced by burning fuel with air. 16vs can be made to consume much more air by means of having larger airflow through the head (greater valve area). They will nearly always be quicker, forgetting gay modern engines that are overly restricted for noise/economy purposes.

If thats the case, then definitely 16v. iirc they use all the same mounts, shafts etc so the only difference is the engine!

8 less valves to lap in is not as good as having 8 more valves worth of air coming in/out :)

What you mean by small block?

x14xe, x16xe, c16xe, x18xe1

Basically an engine that isn't as powerful or torquey as a 2.0 but lighter

I would go for a x18xe1, in a stripped out Nova it will still be nippy
