When I bought the car it had an internal shifter and rose jointed linkage connected to a F20 gearbox.

Now I'm putting a LET in with a F18, problem is the shifter sits too high.

It hits where I've marked this pic:

So is that because the F18 have different dimensions or is the engine not sitting right?

What the best solution in this case?

I'll try get some pics tomorrow.

the shifter end is most likely bent, had the same issue on my 1.6, did you forget to undo it before you dropped the engine at all? They're not very strong at all so it the engine has caught it on the way out it will catch like you say

Will check if its bent.

We removed the engine carefully though

Did it slide onto the gearbox end easily? Hard to tell if they're actually bent as they're not straight as standard, if that makes sense lol

Yeah the linkage went on the gearbox without any problems

Hmm not sure then! Realised mine was bent as it was an utter sod to get on the gearbox end as obviously it slides over so they have to be near spot on aligned with each other.

I have an internal shifter (until i took it out the other day) and it doesnt catch there. Im running F28 with modified standard linkage though. Worth checking F18 dimensions i think from a known reference point on the car?

Problem is I haven't got the F20 anymore so I can't compare them

have you got pics of the internal bit as it may just be a case of lifting the whole gear lever assy up to allow that little bit of extra clearance at the rack?? just a thought
