Ive put the belt on and the tensioners took all the slack up on its own is this the normal way or do you have to exert pressure on it too???

Ive spun the engine over and it seems fine.

when i pulled, the spanner slipped, i ended up flying thru the air about 10ft, thats how hard i was pulling lol

I just let the spring take up most of the slack then gave a little more by hand no need for spanners here lol.

thats deffinatly one ivce never seen before, you can still buy the proper springs from vauxhall easily, but i surpose you can do it that way.

Just wanted to make sure that letting the tensioner take up the slack was the right way as ive never done a 16v belt before lol.

what you have described is exactly what a spring loaded tensioner does.....

as for that pic... the last time i saw a tensioner like that, it was on a fiesta courier van & was on the ps pump.
