View Full Version : Heated Screen Diagram

There was a thread a while back discussing the heated screen wiring.
A few people IIRC mentioned that they could get hold of or had a wiring diagram.
Nobody managed to post one up, so I'm asking if anyone has one.
Should be wiring it in over the week end together with some other electrical stuff on the Nova and would like to have the diagram as a reference.

I think in the group but thread welshdan posted up a link with a wiring diagram

will have a look but that thread is HUUUUUGE, was it towards the end of the thread?
4pin relay,
One to switch then power.
One pin to ground,
Switching pin to 12v,
2 wires from screen to last pin.
2 screen wires to ground.
When Lee did mine, Dar supplied him with a diagram iirc. Might be worth a PM his way.

Ok Jack, will give that ago :thumb:
If I get anything from him I'll post on here for everyone to see for future reference.

As promised,
Thought I'd get it posted on here to help anyone who my need it.

Big thanks to Dar for giving me the diagram and allowing to post it
Nice just what I need lol
Any idea where to get the relay's from ?

Errr no :) didn't ask Dar that. But he did say he got a 12v 30A relay with built in fuse.
I simply picked up a couple of relays from the local autofactors

I assume any old 12v 30A relay. I'd prefer not to have them timed tbh.
Would Maplins do them?

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but my question is relevant.
As all the wires are black, how do i work out which is live and which is earth??

O/T chat.....Gareth, i have started a thread in articles about the VX220 dash. Feel free to add your info. I'm still abit unsure bout the speedo side of it.

ill try and get in the garage one night this week and get them sorted
I don't think it matters which way you connect the wires. So long as you connect them to +ve and -ve properly, or is that what you mean?
IIRC when we did mine, we had two wires in each bottom corner, pretty sure it was a +ve and -ve on each side
just use a multimeter to buzz the wires... pair up/power up matching ones.
PLEASE use fused relays or add two fuses to that diagram on the feed to the screen

Errr ok..just a PITA as they are all black wires lol
I fail big time at electrics.
just which bit of the hondas do you work on???
just which bit of the hondas do you work on???
tbh you could be a retard at electronics and still make the harness for an OEM as its all colours and numbers lol..
but 4 wires & simply holding the windscreen up to the light will show you which is which........

lol like that even matters!! The looms are pre made and are just shoved in!!
I worked in weld, making the bodyshells. Still work in weld, but now work on introducing new models.

How?
Pete, test the wires with a meter to find which makes a circuit (sure each side is one) then connect to power and ground. It is that simple.

Thanks Benn.
Thats what I said on the last page lol
iirc its two sided (eg pax side and drivers side), so you need to power both sides

Thanks. I shall investigate on friday afternoon.

If you see flames inside the glass you'll know it's incorrect lol
i can't see how you could wire it up wrong.... just pick 2 random wires, and if it isn't warm, then try swapping 1 wire for one of the other 2

Technically you shouldnt feel it 'get warm'... its only to get the surface a touch warmer than the dew point/defrost glass.
Much like your heated rear dosent get hot to the touch
In Pete's defence, having spend the what 170 quid, you dont wanna do anything that might damage it...
Both sides are separate circuits (there's not one for each side, they are interlaced incase one circuit fails, you still get the effect on the whole screen).
It doesn't matter which way round you wire them, hence why they are not labled or colour coded :)

The people who supplied the screen should of included wiring instructions.

Ahh, that makes sense.
Doesn't explain why mine has shagged itself though lol

simply blow on it to get it misty.
Seems I have purchased a heated seat. The guy left the plug and the female plug plug 4 wires.Question is, what do I do with them?
you could try a forum in the states that deals with whatever it is you have.(notice, i'm being polite)
