how much faster is the engine from the Corsa gsi than the normal nova gsi 8v engine as far as acceleration, top speed, an sound :twisted: i think i remember lookin at a site an the 0-60 lookin impressive, canrt remeber exactly wot is was....... :)
iv raced a few nova 8v gsi's with basic mods such as decat+full zorst/induction kit/boost valve and i beat them 0-60 by a few car lenghts and once i was doing over 90 i was completely loosing them as i had longer gear ratios. the sound is absolutely brilliant on these :D if you wanna go mad find a tunnel and floor it with ya windows down + sunroof open :D as for top speed i had my speedo indicating 135mph (on an airfield of course ;) with 2 of us in

corsa gsi v nova gsi is nothing in it....
nova 1.6 16v v nova 1.6 8v = bin loads of weight from the 8v and change the gear box for corsa sri one
ye but you just as easily change the box on the 16v and still beat the 8v easily :)

8bhp v loads of weight loss and the 8v will win.... now a stripped 1.6 16v is a different matter.... but from what i remember u used to run seats etc in ur sri dicko
ye i just took them out sometimed when i went fez park :D
what im saying is my car vs a 8v gsi that had cams/filter/decat/boost valve and same sieze wheels and with seat in i beat it aceleration and top end, he had lower ratios than me....

i whooped a standard nova gsi
ive also beat a calibra 16v but we were pretty even with me creeping away slowly till i gave up as the road went to one lane and my nova cost more than his calibra lol
thats the spirit soldier :D
i can remember when i fcuked up my wiring and got the knock sensor and the temp sensor the wrong way around, once engine had warmed up it was well dodgy at high revs, yet still managed to beat a near std nova gsi :D

16v engines r better. and thats that ;)
nova gsi would probably get off t he mark faster but a 16v engine would real it in in higher revs.
as for stripping cars out... some1s been reading mig too much :P
lots more stuff can go wrong with 16v tho :( and make sure u get plastic inlet manifold version :D

as ste said there is not much in it as standard. i had 2 8v and then a 16v.
my old 16v is putting out 190bhp now in a rally car. it had ?0000's spent!!

Ive got something right!
how fast ? very !!! i've got a 1.6 16v on sbd throttle bodies it does a quarter mile in 14.49 at 98mph (my first quarter mile with that engine ) that's faster than an escort cossie if you were wondering and it tops out well off the clock! approx 145mph (using gear ratio revs calculation ) i can't recommend the throttle bodies enough, if you can afford them buy them, if not sell your gran or sumfing...

My Nova Gsi eats um alive on acceleration...but then I've got 125bhp under the hood :D
However, I think they've got a better top speed due to gear ratios (mentioned earlier)!

My Nova gsi really does slow up after 105/110! :?
what u got done to ur gsi?
the more or less std 1.6 16v does 1/4 mile in around 15.6s, you saying you can do it in less?

Just saying I've out-accelerated a couple in the past.
58k mile engine with:
Courtenay cam
head work
fse
full zorst
quick shift cone with feed pipe from grill
Keep meaning to take it for a 1/4 mile test.

That is damn good BHP for basic mods, how many 1600 16v Novas have you raced?

My Nova gsi really does slow up after 105/110!
My Nova 1.2 slows up at 55, then its a struggle to get it over 80 on the flat in 5th.
Not for long though. Got some mods and hopefully a transplant on the way in the next 2/3 months.
