hi all i have just pick up a nova mk2 sr 1.4 8v.and i just want to no wat power iv got. i will take it to a rolling road just dnt have the cash right now so fort i would ask on here. the mods are
a k&n air filler
a weber 32/34 card
a nova gte head on it
kent fast road cam
4 2 1 manifold
and a full power flow exaust
and the engine code is se14??

not alot if its got a gte head on it as the compression ratio will be about 8 :1

wat do you think about 85bhp??
wat do you think about 85bhp??
Think down on standard, not up lol
And the ports are the wrong shape for the inlet...

wow wat head do you think i should put on it??

a 1200/1300 one
if i put the 1300 head on wat bhp do you think it will have then
how long is a piece of string?
Are you really that bothered, just put it all together how you want it, get it setup so it drives nicely, and you will get a power figure with the setup. If you choose to beleive that figure is another matter.
A genuine BHP for said setup will be approx 85bhp.
every engine is different and will react in different ways no one will be able to give you a bhp you will need to get it dynod

why wonder what bhp its not like your running a let

Sure you've used that pic before, getting lazy! lol
It is a nice looking fort though. I'm sure I recognise it, just can't put my finger on it. Around Southampton I think
wat do you think about 85bhp??
bin the text typing or get a trip to the sin bin.
So you have a MK2 SR that has a 14SE engine in there..... hmmm Sure its not an SRI and some goon has removed the MPI and replaced it with a crappy assed 32/34 carb?

Much love for the gay.
I havent seen a 1400 carbed mk2 sr.
But hey, I MAY be wrong lol
Erm, well, a 1400, on mpi management, with a good filter, and a 4 branch and system. makes 99/100bhp
So, going on your carb setup, if its been setup which i doubt, and the ports matched to the head which I doubt:roll:
about 75bhp I would say:thumb:

Look in the feature sections, there's a whole load of 1.4SRs.

18bhp/22% raise just from an exhaust and filter? :wtf:
GRUNT 16V

80 bhp at the wheels roughly 104 bhp at the flywheel

oh dear lord, for once I agree :wtf:
Jack, the 14SE was an epic little engine and is basically a 1.6 just without the capacity, its been seen on good rollers that sorting the exhaust (dropping the cat etc) has given GTE/GSI power.
o.p j00 needz a redtop turbo y0 wit v-tak.
or take it to well lane happy rollers..... it will make 120bhp there....

Why dont you just get it on a dyno :S
we're not rolling roads

a k&n air filler clean it with the proper cleaning fluid....
a weber 32/34 card ok thats a good start
a nova gte head on it as said bin and get a 1300
kent fast road cam what degrees and spec?
4 2 1 manifold smallblocks prefer 4 into 1 manis.
and a full power flow exaust nice:wtf: , id be looking at an ashley one tbh
and the engine code is se14??.
NOOOOOO keep the 1600 head, skim (if not done already), T40's plus manifold.
tbh the low ass revs these engines pull a 4-2-1 or 4-1 makes next to cock all difference.
and after the manifold the system again makes naff all difference aslong as its 2-2.75" bore.
surely the larger pockets in the head lower comp?
hence the skim comment :wall:
MPI heads have bigger valves/great flow... then its the 1200 carb head, then the 1300carb head, and then onto the sacks o turd that are the spi heads.
ahh i see. so whats a safe amount to take off one? bear with me mate, its been a rough coffee free day lol
Mpi heads have bigger valves ?
So when I rebuild my Courtenay 1300 turbo lump I need to use a 1600 head ?
Will the ports be correct for my Irmscher injection kit tho ?
Or just stick with my 1300 head that has enlarged valves ?
if your building a turbo lump def use the 1.6 head it has bigger chambers so lowers the c/r
Bottom end already has low comp 1300 pistons tho ?
lol was hoping he might reply here lol
depends on the irmscher inlet port shape, and what bowl size the pistons have to then work out the CR.... (No I dont care what CR the pistons claim to be lol)
edd is it the injection inlet, iirc theyre round.
was there a "special" irmscher 1.3 head that had round ports too?...dont think there was ;)
thought the 1.3's had round ports. meh i hate smallblocks. :d
I'm 99% sure that the Imrscher manifold has round inlets where it meets the head ?
Is that going to determine what head to use then ?
http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/rr359/EDDRODGERS/c7fb2815.jpg
You can see the inlet in this pic
cathedral ports, i stand corrected.
Is it possible to use a mpi head then with the ports on the inlet that shape ?
id say so, but you need to measure the chamber size and the bore and piston cc aswell. and work out your cr. if youhave low comp pistons already adding a 1600 head may be overkill, or it could mean lots of boost and powaaaah. :d
That all sounds like something I have no idea how to do ?
Is there a guide how to ?
Tools needed ?
Etc
i shall try to find some info mate, i'll pop it up later...
try these mate. explanations of stuff and guides and how to's etc. i used these when teaching.

Jeez that's alot to get your head round lol
Think I'll have to look into it in great detail when I come to rebuild the engine, got to get the Sport finished first
or see my sig link for the calculator and try www.slindborg.host.sk (http://www.slindborg.host.sk) for the 1.4 tuning guide that contains a rough how to measure the CC of the head etc
Ok nice one Stu I will have a look through that in a bit

I agree with this. My C14SE was a little rocket! Surprised many cars with larger capacities. On a private road of course!! Wish i had it RR'd to see what it was putting out.

so, as a matter of interest what do you think i could/would get from my c14se?
runs on the sri mpi system
k&n
sri 4-2-1 manifold
decat
piper fast road cam (for the mpi engine)
head been scimmed and ports lightly 'polished'
exhaust manifold ports againd 'polished' :)
wallbro 255 motorsport intank pump with high flow filter (if that matters)
oh and £250 worth of black diamond uprated clutch to get the power (i use the term power lightly lol ) to the wheels
just wondering ;)

Eh? If its a 1.4 injection it will have this anyway??!!
Standard i *think* they have around 82bhp, so at a complete, uneducated guess.....an extra 10bhp?

i love uneducated guesses ;)
if i could get 90-95 i would be fairly happy :)

Still not seen a mk2 sr, on a carb:roll:
Also, It wasnt me running the frikkin dyno, it was stupots van.

Live and learn.
Still never seen one in flesh, only mk1's. all the mk2's i have seen have been sri lol
And I thought it was mk1 sr stuff for twin 40s?

82bhp, aye.
Ahhh Stu, I forgot an SRi would have a chat on the exhaust. Still, the OEM induction and exhaust must be horrendously sh!t if it can release that much power!
i must get round to plotting that c14se cam ive got being as there are no specs in the haynes
arnt they the same cam spec as the gsi??
