water temp gauge not working

hi all,
got a c20xe in a nova and the water temp gauge isnt working, where should i start to look,

had a search and found a thread saying if i take the wire that is crimped onto a spade connecter and touch it to the block it should max out the gauge to show it is working is this right thanks?

yes earth the wire from the sender this will show the guage is working if it shoots up to max.

right touch the cable of the water temp sensor to the block and it did nothing where am i best of looking next?

how do you bleed it on a xe?

broken clocks? or the circuit board on the back?

is there a way of checking if they are broken before going getting new ones?

one thing u can do is wire a new wire from the sender to the back of the clocks. I had a similar problem with mine, shot up when put to earth but still didnt work.

I ended up fitting and aftermarket one in the end. Now works fine.
