While driving on a rural end of the roadway on Thursday morning, I saw an
infant carseat on the side of the road with a blanket draped over it. For
whatever reason, I did not stop, even though I had all kinds of
thoughts running through my head. But when I got to my destination, I
called the Police and they were going to check it out. But, this is what
the Police advised even before they went out there to check....

Read the link, it's a fake warning. They are designed to put fear in to people who then email every bugger they know and then most of them do the same etc etc. Hey presto **** loads more emails clogin up your inbox.

I bet my mum will send me this in a few days.

A piece of advice to anyone who gets an email like this. Check it out before emailing everyone in your contacts because 9.9 times out of 10 it's a fake.

Fake or not it might give scumbags an idea so in the end it's still a warning, especialy folk like my missus who drive by themselves on rural roads with no street lighting can use this type of message to help be aware of plots like this,

Sevral years ago I told her " if you see a body in the middle of the road NEVER stop!! keep going and call the police when you get home"

even at 0.1 chance it's a hoax would you want your girlfriend raped and beaten up?

Interesting that despite proof that it's fake it still had the desired effect....

If you worry about every last thing that someone may or may not do to you or whatever plans might be in someone's head you'd never ever leave the house....and then the electric or the gas boiler might kill you, hell you might even fall down the stairs lol

I can see why some folk write this of as a hoax but unfortunatly some us have had to experience a friend being raped and murdered, it does make you think a little different when you read these things.

My girlfriends workmate and good friend, I'll never forget this.( not a car type thing but still, it makes you take personal saftey very seriously)

as soon as it said 'can block your vision by up to 92.5%' its obviously a fake - why the hell would anyone put that?

its sad tho, because if you had an accident and were generally in trouble - nowadays people are scared into not stopping and you (at best case - if they bothered ringing) would have to wait an hr for the police to turn up - possibly too late.

so just to flip this - would you want your girlfriend/child stuck on the side of the road in a heap with people driving past because they wont risk stopping to help?

Nope, I'd hate it to happen to my missus but, what if it was her lying in the road needing help and everyone drove by. Got to look at it in a balanced view and as much as bad things do happen - try to see the best in folk, albeit with a side of caution.

these emails always seem to be sent out from america & usually have some religious message added to them.

my wife gets all sorts of them from her relatives over there, and i usually end up sending them a nice email picking holes in them....

bazil, quite a few people will have known someone who was raped and/or murdered. unfortunately it is a sad fact of life. but that message was so obviously cobblers... for one thing, if a gang in glasgow was planning some form of initiation, and it involved grabbing a girl from their car, etc etc... it would be plastered all over the news media long before it came out on a chain email.

my missus got a hate filled email twice in the last year about how british schools won't teach the holocaust in case it upsets the muslims....
1. my missus is actually 1/2 jewish
2. she is a school governor
3. our eldest daughter was actually studying it at the time at school
this was based on an american who had found some education system guideline about when teachers teach the subject, they have the right to check with the child/their parents if they know the child is jewish to see if it would upset them to be taught it publicly.....and then twisted round for political gain...

in america, every time some scare story comes out like the baby seat thing, gun sales go up, car security systems sales go up, mobile phone sales go up. .. are you seeing a pattern yet.....

this glasgow gang story probably came about because someone thought it was funny to anglicise the email, & thought... ok, we can't put bronx/compton etc... where sounds rough...and settled on glasgow.. they could have easily chosen some other 'notorious' place but didn't
