my mate managed to get his piper cam to work ok on the GTE Mpi that he ran on twin 40's

as far as i know a 'fast road' cam will just slot in, a cam with a more agressive profile would need the valve springs as well

hope this helps

I put an ast2 cam in my old 1.4 astra mpi and it ran like a dog but you may be ok with an ast1 and 1.6 mpi.

and once its on 40s the MPi becomes redundant... :wtf: camming a carb engine is much more simple than an Injection engine.

The AST1 is not high lift, its a "fast road" cam so nothing special. IIRC Kent do Injection specific cam profiles, but whichever is fitted it is advised to get a remap/chip and get it set up properly on a rolling road for best results.

Rich is right. The AST1 is nothing special and you wont see much difference over the standard cam.

an autosprint regrind is probably a better bet.

an autosprint regrind is probably a better bet.

Not as cheap as a bargain 2nd/3rd hand ebay Kent special though.

Just be carefull the SPi doesnt run lean though with a hotter cam in.

i've been keeping an eye on secondhand cams on the bay, & some of them look shocking, and having been ragged mercilessly, then pulled out of a being stripped engine will mean it is probably worn out anyway.
i'd be tempted to get a new std replacement cam, and get it ground, cos thats pretty much what these cam people do with 'fast road' spec cams
