View Full Version : Urgent mot help
My car failed it's pre mot on the seats insecure, I forgot to put the plastic clips back on the runners
I've just put them back on but there's still some play when I wiggle the seat, the front of the seats are fine it's just the rears
booked in for it's mot today

my nova front seats always wobbled.
and as long as the back ones stay put and dont come away from their position they should be ok
They don't come off the runners at all bit the tester said they will fail
hmmmm,
if there is nothing wrong with them then it sounds like an akwark tester
It could fail under "The security of the drivers or front passenger's seat is significantly reduced."
A slight wobble is not what I'd call "significantly reduced" though. Mine move slightly but they are still secure, its not like they're going to fall out. I guess its one of those things thats down to tester discretion.
My back ones aren't even fixed in position, but I've always maintained they're not seats, just cusions (no seatbelts either). If a tester got monkey over it, I'd just take the cusions out and put them in the boot then ask him to pass it lol
just take them out for the mot and put them back in when you get home

What, the front seats??!
Lol well i've put it in and sorta bodged it just now so the don't move at all
They were falling out just when you lift the back of the seat they moved up about 5-10mm
We shall see this afternoon when I pick it up
Meant to say they weren't falling out lol
anyone know if a mobile speed camera (White van) shows up no mot? Drove passed one on the way to garage today
Wouldnt of matterd, as you was taking it to a pre-booked MOT.
Yeah true was just wondering
Use a bit of that expansion foam they use for the wall cavity insulation lol

If it was a speed camera, no. If it was an ANPR van, yes. I've never seen the two in the same van mind.
But as said, you were going to a pre booked MOT so no problem. So long as you had insurance!
Bring back the 'Tax in post' days! lol
im sure anpr only shows criminal activity info, tax and insurance.
ANPR can be configured to flag up whatever you like.
If you had a suitable database, you could plonk a webcam outside your house and get it to ping up all the pink cars that drive past if you wanted to.

Lol I jammed a bit metal on the runners for mine just now lol
I might weld a strip across the top of the runner though
