hi i feel stupid asking this question as i have worked on loads of cars.BUT what way do i turn the oil filter on a mk1 nova:tard: :O as i have even bein out and bought corect tool and it still wont budge its just crushing the filter, car has bein stood for 2 years.:confused: PICK IS STOOD AT FRONT OF CAR LOOKING UP

cheers tbh i tried both ways but was positive it was anticlockwise its just not having any of it and if i keep goin im goin to put hole in any ideas lol

It's a 1.0 right, just bolt the bracket off the front of the block, go put it in a vice (clamping the filter) and try and unwind the bracket out of the filter.

Bang a hole sraight through it with a large srcrew driver and turn it, if it rips peel the remain parts off :)

last one i removed was very tight but it will go eventually. I used a proper tool too. Best way is to ram a big screwdriver all way through and turn it using that :thumb:

as john says anti clockwise

what tool did you get?
try and get hold of the filter at the very top
just above where it says motorquip
the filter is a bit stronger there and less chance of
crushing it more.

i got a belt thing with socket attacched i sent gf in for it i was wanting the claw type of 1 lol

i have the claw type and personally find it shiite, the domed end of the oil filter pushes the tool off and it hardly grips. I slipped off and gouged my hand on gearbox casing. Will use screwdriver method from now on
