just seen a post about which engine and this got me thinking

suzuki swift 1300 16v. how good are these engine and what power/torque do they put out.

does anyone have anymore details about dropping one of these in a nova.
e.g. engine mounts, wiring, gearbox, driveshafts? hubs? what needs changing

also how tunable are they, or is the fact of being different not enough to fit one of these over a x14xe

Cheers

Ben.

from what ive heard they are more or less bolt in and go, you can buy premade engine mounts (not sure who from but ask)

its a "known" thing to do apprently.

go for it

ive seen a mini with a swift 1.3 16v turbo convertion running 200+bhp think it was austrailian i imagine in a nova the power to wait ratio would be amazing by by............ let

aparently the swift 1.3 twin cam was the fastest hot hatch in its time (as standard). My mates got one and reckon he got 126mph out of it. Dunno how accurate speedo's are.

the swifts are awesome cars. its not just the engine that makes them fast on the road, all round discs, independant suspension etc etc

was looking at buying one, there were none about at the time i got the GTE. i think in terms of straight line performance they would be about equal as standard, the swift has '100bhp' as well. in terms of handling and stopping >as standard< i think the swift would do a GTE, plus theyre meant to take well to turboing. look at the links

Yeah i looked at a few, i know the Nova's arent exactly tanks but the suzuki seemed very thin and wirey, just didnt feel safe.

Good fun though!

from what ive heard they are more or less bolt in and go

a mate of mine said he'd seen one in a rally nova near llanelli and it was on an f13, does anyone know where the kit to adapt it could be bought? or by some strange coincidence does it fit straight on? (lol if it did)

you can buy premade engine mounts

is it a case of fabricating adapter plates to join the suzuki mounts to the bay or does it need completely new mounts?

a guy on mig told me you can buy a kit similar to the pvd valver kit, with everything you need

I've seen/heard of a few nova rally cars that use them but i dont know what class they would be used in, probable one for 1300's otherwise they would use the x14xe

they are an excellent 1300 engine and are fairly common over here in rally cars. I had considered it myself but new regulations in next year for club spec means the engine has to be from the same manufacturer as the shell
This also means "red tops" will be more common again as all the mk 2 escorts will have to resort back to pintos or Zetec's

Is putting a swift gti engine into a nova easier than say a Toyota Starlet GT Turbo engine??. Because if it is, ill do a swift GTi engine :P
