GSI faster than a cav SRI???

raced me m8 in his cav 2.oltr 8v SRI (128 BHP) up the dual carriage way and totally wasted him (got a GSI with cam, vernier, zorst, head work ect)

mine must be bout 130BHP now 2 beat him, both had 2 in the car, up 2 90 he could not catch up, also raced a 1.9 205 and was totally level with him 1st and 2nd missed 3rd :roll: :roll:

might have so,ething to do with that your nova weighs less than a packet of crisps, and his weighs a bit more but well done :D

Nova have a much better power to weight ratio. Probably 1/3 lighter.

it's running lot cooler at the mo for sum reason, i rebuilt all the engine, new crank, new pistons ect, done bout 1500 runnning it in, done up 2 now 2500 and i think it has finnaly bedded in. :D

my m8s got a mk5 xr3i sma ebhp as ur m8s, they do pull really well al thro the gears but iv been in the car wen 1600 gtes sit up his ass, so long as u get a good pull off and the mods u got r giving u about 120 - 130 bhp then ull eat him, plus its a ford theres always a score to settle!

just because you managed to keep up with a car with a given power, it DOSENT mean that you have that power. sa its been said. smaller lighter car higher power to weight ratio

for example a gokart will do 120(ish) mph (gearbox) aut they have bugger all power.

a bmw will do 120mph but needs a shed load more power

Yes all cav GSi's are 16v but he is talking about an SRi wich were 8v for the early models then swapped to 16vs near the end.

Your Nova will be quicker than the Cav but he will be faster top end etc and will sit more comfortably up there than a nova.

The MK5 XR3i's are pants they are not quick at all, nearly as bad as the GTi's

ye dont take much beat them, i had an sr with a gte engine, only mods were exhaust+modded airbox and i could keep up ith my m8s car 2l 16v. could beat it pretty easy upto 60 then he would start to gain on me.

yea me m8 cav has MUCH better top end, up 2 around 80 i can have him, then his top end comes in

my old gsi nova had a b+ head some courtenay cam ,zorst ,chip and drilled airbox and i was level with my mates pug gti6 till 80 and wasted my brothers 5 gt turbo after 60....strip some more weight out of your car :)

You will be looking at about 120-130 bhp....
My nova gsi has:
courtenay cam, air induction, full zorst, fse, skimmed/gas flowed head.
Rolling road read it at....125bhp/137lbft :D
