Whats the advantage of lowering the tie bar at the cross member other than bump steer? Whats the theory behind this and how does it work?

And how many mm should it be lowered by to make a noticeable difference?

iirc its to get the geometry back after lowering it

From info I've picked up on here, its supposed to help stop the front diving down under heavy breaking, and give more clearance to go around an F28.

I believe its more of a clearance mod rather than for handling but i think the usual distance is around 25-30mm

as rich says its normally done to avoid tie bar/f28 kissy kissy snappy snappy lol

So there is no point doing this mod unless you have a F28?

Its to stop nose lift under acceleration & gives better turnn-in characteristics, something Novas are poor at.

haha and heres me thinking they where just for F28 clearance, may have to purchase some :) where sells them these days? the ones that i can just bolt on not worrying about moving bolt holes, etc

Its an old mode that once people realsied it was OK to mess with the mounting of the tie bars, thought yeah I could drop it out the way for the gearbox clearance.

Not sure if the Chris Astley style ones are still aboiut, but they looked nice.

If not get someone to weld/mod some std ones.

Protec sell some rosejointed lowered tiebar mounts for about £140 a pair.

/\ would my tiebars just bolt up into them as normal?

It's probably one of the the best things I've done to my Nova XE and LETs for grip. Stops the weight transfering to the back under hard launches as much and stops the front diving under braking.

Cheers for the link.

I think I might buy some of the rose jointed ones on ebay, cutting and welding standards doesn't look strong to me

The aftermarket ones you buy are just metal welded together. If you modify the standard ones well it'll be plenty strong enough.

Plug as far as I'm aware there's no mods to do to fit them with standard tiebars, but not fitted mine yet.
